Sell Stop orders triggered the selling yesterday and they bought the stock back today.

I would worry when Softbank and Claure start selling, I bet Masa was buying up personally on his personal holdings too.

His sell off was triggered by sell stop orders - he was probably the one buying back the stock too.

  • Sprint shrinking today, down 8.6% [View news story]
Yes jhesr you are correct as far as rich people making mistakes.

But it narrows greatly when it is in their field as in this case. Note Claure bought after any merger news had hope and he is compensated mostly in stock but he still bought $25M worth of the common out of pocket.

Masa a telecom and financial billionaire bought Sprint close to $10.00 a share. I don't think he was hoping for a merger only when he put up that money.

Keep in mind many money managers won't or can't buy the stock because it is 80% majority owned by Softbank.

    CPS,

I don't think so. Masa will not sell Sprint. There may be mergers and partnerships though. In Masa's mind he would buy Apple if anything.

    Sad Man,

    Anything can happen.

But look at it like this too, you have Masa a telecom genius billionaire buys 80% of Sprint, through Softbank a telecom holding company, at around $10.00 a share. Was it based only on a merger with Tmobile? Many non professionals said that it would and could never happen because of the FCC. I just do not think he was that confident of the merger going through for that purpose only in buying the company....he is a smart guy.

Then you look at the stock purchase by the CEO Claure. $25M worth at around $5.00 out of his pocket. Note he is mostly compensated in stock and options already. This is after the merger possibility fizzled.

I agree that the company is worth $15B excluding the spectrum. But I don't think Masa will sell Sprint this is his little baby.

This could be very bad or very, very good.

Funny how they fail to mention that Softbank owns over 80% of Sprint and will do what it takes to protect their investment and shareholders because they are the largest.

Where do you think Sprint will sell some of their valuable spectrum to, not competitors but their own kind....Softbank.

It's the old one hand washes the other strategy.

Softbank is Sprint and Sprint is Softbank.

Some Bozos just don't get it.

Sprint will sell SOME of their spectrum not to a competitor but to Softbank. It only makes sense, it's the old one hand washes the other strategy. Sprint will have plenty of cash....plenty.

    Long Sprint Holdings
