Why Is Bear Stearns Trading at $5?
Even the JPM Employees at their Sunday night meeting stated BSC Books were in good shape. This is was a liquidity run on BSC not a case of going broke. This would have been a chapter 11 issue not a chapter 13.

Why Is Bear Stearns Trading at $5?
CNN showed a report that Bear's break up value is worth 7.7 billion. I have seen other reports that even with 6 billion in losses, which is worse case, the stock's book value is still $40 a share. The one individual with the most to loose, the billioniare brit with 10% in BSC said he did not think the JPM sale would go through. Being a smaller stock holder I certainly have not seen anything that would me agree to $2 a share. The BSC retirement fund with 30% should be looked at for criminal charges if they say yes based on the information currently avaiable. And why did the 1st quarter results not show up yesterday from BSC???????
I am happy the FED came in and stabilzed the market, as is JPM, whic I am sure would love to have BSC at $2.
But everyone thinks this is a done deal is wrong. Based on what I have seen and what the market is trading BSC at this point, I don't think anyone will vote yes to $2 a share. I would say yes to $40 and be done with it.

Brokerage Stocks Nosedive on Bear Stearns Fallout
Apparently the author of the article has not done enough research to understand that this deal is not done. 1) The Bear Shareholders have to approve this, of which a British Billionaire who owns 10% says he doubts it will get done and 2) the Bear Building is worth $2 a share and 3) it was a liquity problem even the JP Morgan staff stated in their shareholder meeting, the books are in good shape, and 4) it appears the book value is somewhere at $40 a share or above. So if you were a share holder would you take $2? NOT
