    Hi Fred
    Still here, thanks for asking...
Been doing alittle 'family' traveling/visiting, and hanging-out at Bens site.
Other than that, all is well.

Thanks for the excellent article... tons of great info.
Transportation is one of the most 'common-sense' economic indicators out there... along with Commodity and Base/Industrial Metal Prices...
And yes, things don't look that great for the year+ ahead... and the Fed is still talking about raising rates???

Excellent analysis of XOM, very thorough and informative.
In the Oil Industry, XOM is as 'good-as-it-gets'...
Always navigating the 'ebbs-and-flows' of the business cycle... with a 'calm' and confidence. Below $70 remains a 'gift-from-the-Oil-God...
    Long-term holder, long-term buyer.

    Great article... Thanks.
Trying to add either MO or PM to a long-term DRIP portfolio (15-yrs+)...
PM currently has the higher yield and a higher 5-yr Div-Growth rate...
Appreciate any thoughts/help... will be buying one.
    Thanks

  • Gold Weekly: Bulls Will Come Back For Christmas  [View article]
If the Miners (GDX) do indeed lead Gold, they have been 'holding-up' rather well in the past two weeks considering Gold's weakness... and have actually outperformed Gold during this period.
Mining stocks are 'cheap' and if Gold is to find a bottom somewhere in this $1000 area, accumulation should begin.
GDX has actually made a ST-high yesterday moving to 14.20... if 13.25-50 can hold on any near-term selling pressure, and move thru these high's, this would be a very positive signal.
The ST-test for the Miners will be, if Gold now moves to the 1030-40 area after today's weakness... Will be watching to see the 'buying-on-weakness' in this group if we move lower.

Since the late Sep/Oct sell-off down to 62, CAT quickly rallied back up to 76 and has recently 'corrected' down to 68... and is now at 70.
During the late Sep sell-off, the worst Volume day was 23mil shares... Since then
CAT has moved 'with' the mkt and has traded with daily Volume in its 'normal' 4-6mil share range. So considering it recent performance and its 'average' daily Volume, all of the 'China News', the business slow-down/recession in Europe, the sell-off in Commodities, the 'death' of the Mining/Construction Sector, etc, etc... It seems that all of this recent 'bad news' has been factored in!
CAT's been around a long time and has always been a 'blue-chip' leader in its Industry for many, many years... and like any company, must always (ie. OIL) deal with the changes in the Business Cycle. CAT will figure-it-out and do what's needed/necessary to get thru these 'tough times.'
If the Mkt is in a correction and does move lower, I'm sure CAT will move lower with it... and anywhere in the 64-66 range, I start backing-up the truck and begin the LT-accumulation of CAT (DRIP portfolio) on any further weakness!

  • Was The Recovery In Metal Prices Just A Counter-Trend?  [View article]
GC Open Interest has continued to expand (tho modestly) in this recent sell-off from the Oct-15 1191 hi's (ie. more new net-Short positions being opened).
GC Volume has remained 'steady' for the past several sessions, in the 120K area... So any continued GC weakness, coupled with expanding OI and Vol (over 150-175K) would be a negative and sign of further weakness ahead... toward 1135-50 SPT.

    Agree... Thanks for the feedback.
Yesterday's Volume and OI numbers had a big 'pop'... Won't be included in this week's COT #s but will be interesting when they do show.
'Gold-Bulls' now coming out of the 'closet' again big-time, in SA articles and CNBC interviews... Another couple weeks and it'll be time to SHORT!... With a confirmation when both Cramer and Gartman LONG GOLD and provide that BUY list of a dozen 'must-own' Gold Miners!

    Thanks Boris
Have used the total 'Large Spec' numbers (ie.191-104=87 for Oct-6)...
How much does this differ from using just the 'Managed Money' positions?
Also, re: GOLD Short-Covering... Open Interest has continued to expand (tho modestly) since late-Sep WITH this current GC rally from 1103 to 1168... which would indicate new net-long positions entering... what am I missing?
    Thanks
