Shareholders lost money on GM Ford stock, UAW gave up wages and benefits. Managements stop flying in corporate jets. President Bush finally gave in with $17 billion for GM and Chrysler. Did I miss anything else? Aha! Yes,.... the carbuyers has not come back yet... This is the last item we forgot... Right? duh?

  • Big Two Bailout: Likelihood of Success Is Slim [View article]
If GM could make model changeovers almost overnight, but did not have money to do that, then GM should be allowed to fail.. But quite to the contrrary,, GM had been making what people want to buy until gasoline hit $4.50. GM is already undertaking model changeovers that will take months if not years to complete, but you are shouting from the roof that GM should fail before it had completed the changeovers. it was almost impossible back then to play hard ball with UAW until recently.. GM is an unique situation unlike other companies because GM has dealerships ., while other companies dont.. it is like space and time that keep on warping all day.. There is not much you can do about it.. but help them complete the transition.

If GM is allowed to fail and shareholders are wiped out...what makes you think shareholders will want to come back to buy new GM shares after reemergence from bankruptcy. Moreover, shareholders will shy away from similiar companies that may follow... Things will get haywire!

What Warren Buffet should answer about bailout of GM and Ford is "Buy GM and Ford when everyone is fearful, sell GM and Ford when everyone is greedy later on!" Is Warren Elmer Fudd Buffet still fearful of GM and Ford?? He is a squitty idiot!

I predict that medicine will be inhaled in more and more new applications. Many at risk citizens will gassed under cover of passing smokers, or phantom gases as covers for the inhaled medicines now already under clinical trials... Inhaled medicines is a reality already!!! Even inhale antibiotics to heal infected lungs... We will probably inhale Prozacs , too.

America is a land of distractions! We keep on lurching from here to there every few hours or days solving nothing but mounting on problems layer over layer until the volcano erupts into WWIII !!! to kill Americans off and starting all over with the 1950's prosperity in our 21st Century! We will shop robots, high speed rail, and other smart gadgets and widgets that will do everything for us! We will still have Veterans' Day and Memorial Day...

If we let GM go down the tubes with shareholders wiped out... then we should say to General Electrics, Caterpillars, Boeings, DuPonts to better watch out... Shareholders will probably dump those union infested companies .. We will probably dodge taxes to union infested governments at all levels in America... You beat around them at low levels while leaving the filthy rich untouched with stashes of cash in Geneva or Zurich, Switerland.. Do you ever wonder why Switzerland was a neutral nation during WWII?? So the rich and filthy can ski downhill while watching warplanes flying overhead toward the "Wizard of the Reich" Was WWII a fantasy game war with Hitler planted there by the filthy rich to have own American soldiers killed for voting for FDR instead of Herbert Hoover??
Maybe the Republicans has WWIII being planned out for you poor little saps ! I dont know where we will go next!! You can bet that Switzerland will remain a neutral nation, dont worry about that??

You overlooked to mention that Japan had been buying dollars to prop up our dollars so that we could artifically afford Civics and Corollas. Japan probably will reduce buying dollars as it consolidates the control of American car market toward 80 or even 90% up from 50% now. Our dollars will start sinking and we will pay more for gasoline as OPEC will demand more dollars to reflect stronger yens and even Euros and British pounds. Our American capitalists are running away from our own issues whenever we see mirages of better solutions from overseas that will prove to be mirages neverthelessly. Yet our capitalists will not own up to their repeatable mistakes of the past as we will continue our pursuits of politically expedient escapades from the howlings of our American voters...

you look like a dumb blond Republican, alright.. Anyway, dont you realize that Japan had been buying back dollars for years to prop up dollars ... If not for that, our dollars will probably get you only 50 yens or less to spend during your Japan trip next time .... Ah, also, if you are still thinkin about buying a new Civic, you better be prepared to put up $40,000 in weak dollars. It is clearly not GM or Ford fault that we had weak dollars. Nor do I forgive UAW pigs or keystone managers.. I really feel very sorry for the miserable lifes that japanese citizens had to endure in order to survive under the insane dollar buying government of Japan... What a dollar addict, indeed!

  • Detroit is Hemorrhaging [View article]
If I am correct that GM and Ford is actively mismanaging UAW out of existence, then the recent oil price rises threw GM and Ford's calculations out of whack. GM and Ford appear to acknowledge that they can no longer build gas guzzlers in great numbers, anymore. I dont want to see GM and Ford continue trying to push SUVs and PickUps down buyers' throats unnecessarily even if they are farmers, ranchers or contractors.. Most of them dont need to drive PickUps everyday, but they need several for occassional hauling. They can leave PickUps at farms, ranches and worksites and commute home in their own small cars! I think those who think they can commute home in PickUps really show lack of concern about energy conservation. They just like to drive big wheels and feel good ... Leave those big wheels there and dont drive them home. Everyone got to pitch in to conserve energy and gasoline so to keep Big Oil in the doghouse forever!!
