John, it is obvious we are no longer a financial leader either. We are at the economic mercy of Asia. Pray they find our military useful. We are the worlds' mercenary. The money we borrow to spend on our pentagon budget is more than all the rest of the worlds' military budgets combined.
They wil use us to accomplish their goals. Our blood, their profit.

  • Alternative Energy Industry Outlook [View article]
Tc-1, I looked at First Solar and was going to buy it but the cadmium telleride utilized in their pvp manufacturing put me off. The panels did not gain a foothold in europe because of the strict environmental and human toxicity rules. By your statements it sounds as though the toxicity problem has been resolved. Is this so?? I thought that this toxicity was one of the reason First Solar has not been used in residential area up until ? now.
I know haz-mat did not like them and there were concerns over disposal at end of usage have these added costs and enviro concerns been resolved as well for the first several years of the products production.
Thanks for providing answere if possible to my concerns.

  • Alternative Energy Industry Outlook [View article]
Solar has the least impact on the environment and will continue to gain efficiency over the next several years. The solar industry is still in its infancy and the investment opportunities risk/reward ratios are very heavily leaning towards major rewards over time. The industry has the potential to create tens of thousands of jobs that will stay in country. It is the investment of choice for those with vision for the future. My personal favorite is ESLR beaten down by financing difficulties with Lehmans but has billons in contracts over the next 3 years minimum. The pvp they make are the state the art for efficientcy, cost, and reduced environmental impact. Going forward, with government money available to achieve the goal of creating jobs and energy independence, as well as reducing environmental negatives, financing should not be a major hurdle for this company to overcome. Also of note Evergreen Solar panels have been utilized by the whitehouse for the past 7 years with excellent results. Strong buy at current 3 - 4 dollars range and according to the 4 star morningstar rating a target short term of 6. I believe this is a very conservative estimate. GLA

Face everyone, we are the worlds' mercenary. We help our "allies" and they send us the dollars back to do it. Our army is loyal to the government to a fault thus far. Very few other countries can create as large a military force and they certainly can't trust them or control them. As long as we maintain relative unity within our union we will dominate. A. Lincoln stated, to paraphrase, " If destruction be our lot, we,ourselves, must be its author and its finisher, for as a nation of free men we must live thru all time or die by suicide." In other words as has been oft quoted "United we stand, divided we fall." This is the primary imperative to maintain our world hegemony.

  • Atlas Pipeline: Call Option on Oil [View article]
I think petro is in a real bind at this juncture due to the worldwide recessionary pressure and the fact that to much upward movement in petro will seal the deal so to speak in many countries for the push on green alt energy sources. This is not to say reasonable pricing with some stability can not be achieved. But given the political climate and generational changes in thinking regarding energy sourcing any more "oil crisis " situations will contribute to the ultimate demise of pricing. Upward movement yes, to a degree, high volitily no. NG as has been mentioned is tied to oil so I would not look for a big spike there either. Inflationary pressure that increase petro would exert is not a good thing at all in the long run.

very interesting perspective. Of course the fact we spend more on our defense/offense budget than all the other nations of the world combined and have tens of thousands of nuclear
warheads does make us a better friend than enemy. Much of the world
will indeed show monetary mercy to the mercenary nation.
