Evergreen Solar's Long Term Outlook [View article]
Thank you for a fact based article on Evergreen Solar which clearly states the risks/benefits at play with this company. Anyone reading the article cannot help but be impressed with the objectivity put forth. It should help them decide whether or not the ESLR stock is to speculative or not for their individual taste. As a long term investor I have dealt with each of the negative issues as they have unfolded over the past year. My personal opinion has remained constant in believing the eventual ROI is well worth the risk. Solar is a tremendous growth industry in it's infancy. Evergreen not only produces a premier product but meets the stated national goals of the current administration of creating good jobs, protecting the environment, and achieving energy independence. Once again, thank you for your comprehensive and fair look at Evergreen Solar.
Evergreen Outsources Cell and Panel Production to China's Jiawei Solar [View article]
.What a shame, a innovative company that has been formulated and developed through innovation right here in the USA is now forced to outsource to china. So much for encouraging american manufacturing in a growth industry which is completely in line with the stated national policy goals of energy independence and a cleaner environment. Once again america does all the brain work and developes a new technology only to have very little to show for it here at home. Billions, or should I say trillions, to bail out corrupt bankers but nothing for the workers or great startup. How pathetic we have become.
One of the most incompetent articles I have ever read in Seeking Alpha. Tell the author to go back to school and graduate before he ever submitts anything else for publication. So many factual errors it's really an embarassment.
While FSLR has a marketable product and, due to great deep pockets, got the jump on its competitors, I still think that the carcinogenic material used in the manufacture of its panels will eventually be the achilles heel of this company. Disposal, litigation, and eventual EPA restrictions could make for major financial headaches. I would approach FSLR with caution at this juncture. I would however watch for a change in the composition of the panels possibly aquiring a superior product through a buy out. That would mitigate future problems considerably and allow FSLR to maintain its customer base.

Big oil still calls the shots even though their house of greed and control is starting to feels the power of big daddy sun. The formula is thus for a while: Big OIL = Big Money = Control of Analyst. The problem for big oil is that a few moral leaders now understand Energy Independence = Freedom + a Cleaner Safer Planet.

Tc-1, I looked at First Solar and was going to buy it but the cadmium telleride utilized in their pvp manufacturing put me off. The panels did not gain a foothold in europe because of the strict environmental and human toxicity rules. By your statements it sounds as though the toxicity problem has been resolved. Is this so?? I thought that this toxicity was one of the reason First Solar has not been used in residential area up until ? now. I know haz-mat did not like them and there were concerns over disposal at end of usage have these added costs and enviro concerns been resolved as well for the first several years of the products production. Thanks for providing answere if possible to my concerns.

Solar has the least impact on the environment and will continue to gain efficiency over the next several years. The solar industry is still in its infancy and the investment opportunities risk/reward ratios are very heavily leaning towards major rewards over time. The industry has the potential to create tens of thousands of jobs that will stay in country. It is the investment of choice for those with vision for the future. My personal favorite is ESLR beaten down by financing difficulties with Lehmans but has billons in contracts over the next 3 years minimum. The pvp they make are the state the art for efficientcy, cost, and reduced environmental impact. Going forward, with government money available to achieve the goal of creating jobs and energy independence, as well as reducing environmental negatives, financing should not be a major hurdle for this company to overcome. Also of note Evergreen Solar panels have been utilized by the whitehouse for the past 7 years with excellent results. Strong buy at current 3 - 4 dollars range and according to the 4 star morningstar rating a target short term of 6. I believe this is a very conservative estimate. GLA
