I would like to buy insurance that, if I went to Las Vegas, would cover my losses and allow me to keep my gains. Isn't that what Wall Street expects, and the Fed has granted, in the current financial mess? If Bear Stearns was a weak sister, it was also a pariah, and its loss is JP Morgan's bonanza. But what else is lurking behind the veil, and who else is scurrying to patch the levee, probably in vain, before the deluge? We shall see.
