In other words 25% of US children and 1 in 8 adults are indirectly being fed by the Chinese Communists. And don't forget they also manage to feed 1.3 billion Chinese.
US is forever boasting about Human Rights and conveniently forgets Human Responsibilities. This line of thinking has brought the country to this sad state that it is depending on the Chinese to feed a percentage of it's children and adults. What makes it even stranger is that US population density is a third that of China and a tenth that of India. If these populous countries can feed their own populace, US families should definitely be in a position to earn sufficient amounts to feed themselves.
It is high time for the US citizens to reexamine naive US Government policies, that make it impossible for US citizens to feed themselves.]]>

Comment: " just love America's coal powered electric cars! " It is true that some of the electricity used by electric cars will be generated by coal burning plants. CO2 sequestration research is showing rapid progress. So even though the power plant will be burning coal, the fumes will be sequestered underground and not irritating your lungs during morning commute.

Comment:"40,000 electric cars in the States? What's that, golf carts?" Toyota Prius cannot be classified as a golf cart.

Comment: "Most everything in this article is nonsense unless you believe that the governments...Grid 2.0 will un-employ people, raise the cost of living " Building the smart grid and creating the large scale storage systems to store Wind and Solar power will only increase the number of employees. US has a chance of saving $700B a year in oil imports going to unfriendly countries, who in turn fund Talliban and other terrorists.

Comment:"No it won't. Natural Gas, not electric, must be the future."
Natural Gas will be very much part of the Electric future. Natural gas is the cleanest fuel to generate electricity at the Electric Power plant. Secondly, fuel cell technology can be used to convert NG to electricity directly, though this is not suitable for cars but home appliances. ]]>

The Dubai Default and Oil Prices http://seekingalpha.com/article/175545-the-dubai-default-and-oil-prices?source=feed#comment-781109 781109 Some commentators have suggested that Dubai might try to deny responsibility for the loan. This would cause a complete loss of creditor trust, which would be expensive not only for the current generation in Dubai, but for future generations as well. Potential future cost of loan denial is likely to dissuade the Dubai government
from such a step, in which case, again the scenario presented by the author might hold.]]>

Is Local Actually Greener than Global? http://seekingalpha.com/article/175198-is-local-actually-greener-than-global?source=feed#comment-779028 779028 Total Transportation Costs = (1) Cost of Transportation to Distribution Point + (2) Cost of Local Transportation. In the case of Chinese goods it is clear that the goods need to be trasnported all the way to California(1) and then distributed to local markets.
When computing the transportation costs of Chinese goods the author has ignored the costs of Local Transportation, since these costs still apply, because goods need to be transported from California to your local Walmart in Peoria, Illinois. In the case of local goods the Cost of Transportation to Distribution Center is significantly less because the distance is far less. Secondly, there is nothing preventing the transportation of local goods by train instead of by Trucks. For example in India, a mixed mode is used. From the distribution point the goods are tranported by train and then distributed locally by truck.
To do a meaningful comparison the author needs to compare apples to apples. ]]>
