Microsoft: Whistling in the Dark

One of the major computer mags, recently had a "how to get your PC to work better / faster" article - their answer - TURN OFF ITunes & QuickTime. Both Apple products that are free downlods that were apparently designed to make PC run poorly.

Weve heard Mac's are taking over for years - Mac OS is better so Aple dumped it for Next's OS (owned by steve Jobs)
Power PC is Better - Dumped for Intel
Only APPLE software policy - Dumped for the Apps Store.

And now they are way behind in 64 bit arena -
If it wasn't for Adobe software & the I Phone, Apple wouldn't even have the 4% they keep claiming is growing.

Part of the reason they sell as many pc's as they do is their users replace the MORE frequently - also part of the reason the get fewer complaints.

Tan - sorry but the chips are 64bit but while OS X is built on 64bit it can NOT run 64 bit apps or see more RAM (which negates your whole point). CS4 & Lightroom 2.1 both run in 64bit only under VISTA 64. And from what I see it's real nice - heres a current user discussion - www.flickr.com/groups/...

Apple dumped their processor for the dreaded Intel
Apple dumped thier "better" OS for Unix based OS X (still only 32 bit 4 gb MAX)
Watch how many use VISTA 64 which does not have the problems of vista 32.

You missed a HUGE point - CS4 is 64 bit for PC's and NOT for mac's. Those High end people will need to go with Vista 64 to take advantage of extra memory room 64 bit allows above ~4 GB 32 bit limit. Vista 64 can access between 16 & 128gb of ram. I would much rather have access to more RAM then easiy Ipod usage.

2 Reasons Barron's Is Wrong About Intuitive Surgical

The Barrons article misses 2 points (at least).
1. Upgrades - Just this quarter ISRG sold 6 upgrades and from my understanding they resold the returned machines at close to normal prices.
2. Additional Procedures - The barrons writer does not see any additional surgeries that can currently or in the future be performed by DaVinci or DaVinci 2/3/4.

Think of where Intel would be if no one ever upgraded a PC and gone are the days when ONE pc in a home was wishful thinking.

Who Wins in eBay's New Shipping Cost Requirements?

I have NOT bid many times because an item had undefined shipping - BAD for me & Bad for eBay. The seller could put - Buyer pays actual shipping cost with the High Flat rate as a Max.
