  • Retirement Strategy: The Apple Juggernaut Should Be In Every Retirement Portfolio Right Now [View article]
RS, what's with all the "right now" articles? Apple right now. Blah blah blah right now.

As I used to say to my kids: Delay of gratification is a good thing.

I am not an Apple shareholder. I confess that I missed the boat on Apple and should have bought it a long time ago.

But now is not the right time to buy Apple. The stock market is close to an all time high. The next time that the stock market has a substantial correction, even terrific stocks like Apple and Exxon Mobil will be dragged down with the rest of the market.

The odds are that investors will be able to buy Apple at a more attractive price in the future.

  • Apple's Game Of Inches [View article]
Is Apple stock a buy at this time?

Let's rate Apple stock according to a PASS/FAIL system.

    1) The PE ratio of Apple is 16.39. PASS

    2) Apple stock is near a 52-week high. FAIL

    3) Apple stock is near an all time high. FAIL

    4) The stock market is near an all time high. FAIL

Apple stock is a HOLD at this time. There will likely be a better opportunity to purchase shares of Apple in the future.

  • Could A Bear Market Kickstart Apple? [View article]
Could a bear market kickstart Apple?

Quoth the Raven, I don't know how long you have been investing in the stock market, but I have been an investor for 44 years.

Trust me on this one, a bear market won't kickstart Apple.

I have been through three extremely severe bear markets (1974, 2002, and 2008). During those bear markets, even the best of the best stocks such as Philip Morris, Exxon Mobil, Johnson & Johnson and Coca-Cola were dragged down with the rest of the stock market.

When we have the next bear market as severe as the three that I mentioned, the price of Apple could easily be cut in half.

It would be a good idea to keep some cash on the sidelines to take advantage of the next severe bear market.

  • Xiaomi Is A Big Threat To Apple [View article]
The author states that Xiaomi is a big threat to Apple and then concludes that Apple is a strong buy.

Xiaomi is not a big threat to Apple.

Apple is not a strong buy. Apple is a hold.

  • I Was Wrong About Apple [View article]
Clutching at straws? That's a polite way to put it, Julian 1401.

I can't for the life of me understand Michael Blair's negative view of Apple stock. Apple is a high quality stock with a PE ratio of only 15. It is much less overpriced than the majority of high quality stocks.

I can think of a long list of extremely overpriced stocks to be negative about (Facebook, Tesla, Twitter, LinkedIn, Amazon, Yelp), but Apple is
    definitely not on that list.

And Michael Blair believes that Apple is on its way down to 300, which would be 43 after the 7 for 1 split? Where does Michael Blair get his crystal ball? I think his crystal ball is definitely defective.

  • Apple Stock Still Suffering From The 'Lollapalooza Effect' [View article]
The PE ratio of Apple is only 15. That's quite good.

However, the stock market is near an all time high. There will most likely be a better opportunity to initiate a new position in Apple after the stock market has undergone a significant correction.

  • Apple Stock Price Likely To Peak Before Long [View article]
Michael, you disclosed that you are short Apple. That does not seem to me to be the best investment choice at this time regarding Apple.

If I were an Apple shareholder, I would not sell the stock. Apple seems to have the characteristics of a buy and hold forever stock.

After the stock market has had a substantial correction, shares of Apple may be more attractively priced. That would be the best time for investors to add to their positions in Apple.

  • Why Apple Is The Perfect Stock For Anyone [View article]
Apple has all of the characteristics of a buy and hold forever stock. However it is not a good idea to buy more shares of Apple at this time for two reasons. 1) The price of Apple is near a 52-week high. 2) The stock market is near an all time high.

After the stock market has had a substantial correction, it will most likely be possible to buy shares of Apple at a much more attractive price.

  • Apple: Yes To iBeats And Yes To Paid Music Streaming [View article]
Alcaraz Research, I think that Apple is a great stock for long term investors, although I would not buy more shares while the stock market is near an all time high. The luxury headphone market may be a good thing, but my wife and I are definitely in the wrong demographic group to purchase luxury headphones. I am 58 and she is 49. If my children ever saw my wife and me bopping along with headphones on, I am sure that they would dial 911 and have us taken to the psych ward for observation.

  • Apple: I Absolutely, Positively, Disagree With Ugly Duckling, I Think, Maybe [View article]
Don't sell Apple until the repurchases stop? Did Ugly Duckling really say that?

That's bad advice, folks. I'll give you better advice.

Never sell Apple. Consider buying more shares of Apple after the major stock market averages have fallen at least 20% from their all time highs.

  • Every Dividend Income Investor Should Own Apple Now [View article]
Regarded Solutions, I also have a high opinion of Apple stock. I am still kicking myself that I did not buy it when it was dead money for many years.

But "every dividend income investor should own Apple now"???????

Isn't that a bit of hyperbole?

I have been a dividend growth investor for 44 years and I do not own Apple stock now. And I am not planning to buy any Apple stock while the Dow and the S&P 500 are so close to their all time highs.

After the stock market has gone through the next major correction, I will probably be able to buy shares of Apple at a better entry point.

  • I Won't Sell My Apple Stock Below $1,000 - Still Potential To Double From Here [View article]
Achilles Research, I am not an Apple shareholder. My own mistake. I should have bought Apple during those years when it was dead money. However, if I were an Apple shareholder, I would never sell it. I would leave it to my heirs so that they could benefit from the stepped up cost basis.

There are some stocks that should never be sold. The Dividend Aristocrats. The Dividend Champions. And, of course, a high quality stock like Apple.

  • Old Tech Still Shines: Apple And Microsoft [View article]
Reading the headline of your article this morning made me feel old.

Old Tech Still Shines: Apple and Microsoft.

To me old tech is RCA.

But I agree that Apple and Microsoft are both excellent buy and hold stocks which should be considered for purchase during major stock market corrections.

  • 3 Reasons Why Apple Is Heading Lower [View article]
Trying to figure out where the price of Apple stock is heading is clearly an art, not a science, but I am willing to put in my two cents based on 43 years of investing experience. In the short term, meaning the next year or two, the price of Apple stock is going higher. As they say in that ad for Celebrex, a body in motion tends to stay in motion, and the motion of Apple's stock price is up. But at some point shortly after that, when the stock market has a major correction, the price of Apple stock will fall significantly.

But over the very long haul, the price of Apple stock is clearly up.
Apple is a stock worth owning for the long haul, particularly if it is bought during major stock market corrections.
