Has A Global Housing Slowdown Begun? [Housing Tracker]
Cheap and easy credit was hardly unique to the US. Canada is showing similar toppiness, and the Australian market is defying gravity.

NAR's Lawrence Yun Continues to Mislead on Housing
For the overhang to disappear, there needs to be a reasonable level of transaction velocity. How will this come about? Ask any now or soon to be unemployed mortgage broker about the prospects.
The rental market will do anything but heat up. Homes that can't sell get leased.

How Long Until the Housing Market Recovers?
These factors coupled with tightened lending standards will lead to even further declines in the velocity of transactions. In areas such as Arizona, it will be long past 09 before the market clears, even in the unlikely event there is no material addition to the foreclosure numbers.

      Are Homebuilders a Buy?
I was surprised when Gartman was reported as being long HOV and generally bullish on the builders. The bottom is at least 2 years away and perhaps longer as the data demonstrate. I don't think the market looks that far out. This is a bear trap.

Will U.S. Markets Crash Now - Or Later?
Nice to see an article that doesn't just repeat the mantras of the cult of equities. I disagree with him as I think the more likely outlook for the broader indices is a sideways grinding market with US consmer based stocks such as SBUX being hurt and export earning driven stocks doing better.
