It seems like there are more people complaining about the demise of the Marshall Field's on State Street than there were people actually shopping there. That store lost money for at least 5 years in a row prior to the acquisition by Macy's, whereas the Herald Square store in NY is a money machine.

UA is a terrible comparison. Not a retailer so they must share margins with another party and already dramatically overdistrubuted. There are no retailers with any market cap that have the growth potential for stores and sales that LULU has. Comparative multiples is a wasted exercise as there is nobody who matches LULU on opportunity going forward.

Peter Lynch made those comments 20+ years ago, before there were 3 million hedge funds trying to get ahead of every stock move. It really doesn't apply anymore and is a very dangerous way to invest.
