      How High Is Financial Risk Today?
      uh.. hello? TED spread as of 10/9/2008 is like 423 bps. How do you arrive at your conclusion of current crisis is less severe than the early 1980s, or mid 1970s, or 1970?

      JPMorgan and the Concentration of Risk
      <quote>
      Should the country enter a “severe” recession ... the company would find itself with a Tier 1 Capital Ratio that would be quickly approaching 7% ... When compared to its peer’s capital ratios, ... we would see that JPMorgan would have the lowest capital ratio of them all should events unfold in such a manner.

      Is the author of this article suggesting that if USA enter a “severe” recession, only JPM's Tier 1 Capital Ratio would be impacted adversely while all the other banks' would not?

      Moral of Bear Stearns Debacle: Don't Buy What You Can't Understand
      This article appears to be written before the announcement of JPM raising the bid for BSC.

      The author may have a point on investors being irrational, under the microscope of behavioral finance theory.

      But I do want to point out those "irrational investors", who paid $6 a share for Bear, doubled their money in a week. The author should be glad that he could not find BSC to short.
