  • Could Things Get Any Worse for Textron? [View article]
All statements and analysis you mentioned above are true. Here's is a little additional flavor on TXT:

    1) BLOG is $23 Billion
    2) Let's subtract $10 Billion from BLOG.
    3) Let's subtract another $10 Billion for Debt
    4) Dividend basically gone.
    5) CESSNA number 1 in general aviation in a awful business.
    6) V22 program even under obama is going nowhere.
    7) Now, Net Future BLOG after all subtractions $3 Billion.
    6) Outstanding Shares 241 Million
    7) Let's Assume a 60 million share offering: 25% dilution
    8) Now $3 Billion divided by 301 million, gives you a $10 stock
    9) 52 wk low = $5: 52 wk high= $65.52
    10) Risk/Reward===>Valu... Play or Value Trap, time will tell.

  • Nike Should Buy Under Armour [View article]
NKE buying UA would be like Apple buying Dell. NKE is not interested in buying UA. NKE wants to put UA out of business, which probably won't happen.
Also, NKE not buying UA avoids sales cannibalization.

Brazil Miner Vale CEO: Big Buys 'Not Probable' Near Term
    11:29 AM EDT August 7, 2008

SAO PAULO -(Dow Jones)- Major new acquisitions by Brazilian mining giant Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (RIO) are "not probable" in the foreseeable future, Vale President Roger Agnelli said Thursday.
"We are not considering making any major acquisitions," Agnelli said in a conference call with analysts and investors. "Our main strategy right now is organic growth."
Agnelli said that acquisitions were "always a possibility" but that a major acquisition in the foreseeable future was "not probable."
In 2007, Vale bid to buy control of major European mining company Xstrata (XTA.LN). But in early 2008, Vale backed away from any deal, saying there would be too many restrictions on Vale's eventual management of the company.

  • Canaccord Analyst: Research In Motion to Hit C$200 [View article]
THIS ANALYST ON RIMM AT CANACCORD HAS NO CREDIBILITY BASED On HIS TRACK RECORD FROM JAN 08 TO JUN 08. He was downgrading RIMM in January 08, after one of its best quarters ever in Dec 08 and was one of the factors causing the stock to tank to the low 80s in Jan/Feb 08, then he changes his mind and admits the mistake after causing a lot of damage and after RIMM was back up to $110 and now that the 3G IPhone is on the RIMM attack, he is out defending RIMM and increasing its price target. Bottomline: Disregard Peter Misek at Canaccord and pay attention to RIMM's management team and AAPL's management team for Misek's analysis is useless.

  • Taser Shareholders: Blame It on the Boogeyman [View article]
You're probably right about the lawsuit being bogus although the SEC should clam down on some of the nonsense regarding naked shorting. However, but as far as drawing conclusions about valuation based on a lawsuit filing is kind of naive. I've never really understood this stock to begin with and TASR surely has had its accounting and legal issues, but from my perspective if a high level of force has to be used, be it in a military, law enforcement, or even civilian to civilian self-defense situation and you're on the receiving end of that force, would you rather be shot by a gun or a taser??? Something tells me the shorts are getting a little pigish on this one.

  • Wells Fargo Downgraded: Oppenheimer's Whitney Goes Too Far [View article]
Whitney's forecast of additional write-downs at WFC doesn't seem excessive at all given WFC's $85 billion exposure to home equity loans and its heavy exposure to CA real estate market plus the continuing decline of housing prices. However, investors might be wise to scale into a long term investment position in WFC on dips into the low to mid 20s like Buffet has in the recent past.

  • Research in Motion Looking Strong [View article]
Where were these firms in Jan 08 after the blowout third quarter perfomance and guidance of RIMM??? Nowhere, but the hedgeys and shorts took RIMM down into the low 80s for no reason- fundamental, managerial or involving its space or otherwise.
