Manhattan Real Estate Is Teetering - Barron's [view article]
OMG, she actually wrote one for herself instead of echo'ng the work of others. One is the start of a trend.Sep 08 10:44 AM
Getting Real About Real Estate [view article]
I fear greed and trying to out-do the neighbors will short-circuit all that common sense. CA people will still pay whatever it takes to buy a home they can't afford and someone will find a means to let them. Outside of CA the adjustment can proceed in the absence of stupidity.Sep 02 09:35 AM

FuelCell Falls as Alternative Energy Fad Fades [view article]
Can't help but notice that you were keeping your mouth shut when the price was up. Oh, how a little bad new brings out the cowards looking to appear smart. Alternate energy is no fad. Fads happen for no apparent reason. There reason here is obvious. Aug 29 11:28 AMYou Don't Own Real Estate - It Owns You [view article]
Hmmm. That 1.2 million dollars burning a hole in my pocket came from 6 years of riding up and bailing at the peak of the real estate market here in Southern CA. My personal residence was the opportunity of a lifetime. A million bucks the green from using other people's money. That's pretty good evidence that you don't have it all right. You can make a fortune in personal real estate if your timing is right. I wish all my investments performed at 1/10th of that rate. Endless stream of crap from this author. All but one housing article from this author today - A loosely associated collection of junk from other places where the title isn't particularly relevant to the junk. As I come to seeking alpha for the housing information, I'd better move off as I have enough spam in my inbox and don't require more.Must be some kind of payment per word deal involved ...

Housing Affordability Proves Elusive [view article]
There's nothing "lost" here. It's just a transfer of wealth from the foolish or the comfortable to the smart or lucky brave ones who found the courage to bail before the thing blew up (or in the case of realtors, brokers and bankers ... the crooked made $). Dumping my Pasadena, CA house in 2005 turned me into a millionaire (but a million dollars isn't what it used to be). The article looks like spam to me. Hard to find the one that corresponds to the headline. One big steaming pile of stuff from other places. I'm always disappointed when I open the article and see the face of the 'author', I clicked for nothing.May 26 02:17 PM
An Energy Policy That Makes Sense, Revisited [view article]
Forget "building out the electrical grid". Distributed power generation is the way to go. The grid is profoundly inefficient and lose power over every mile. Small localized power plants that have the efficiency of the current very large ones should be used. Fuel Cell are a natural tie in here, as are solar and wind. May 10 12:57 PMWhen Will Solar Achieve Grid Parity? We're Already There! [view article]
I see a flaw that I didn't see accounted for. A 250 MW coal or gas fired power plant produces 250 MW's. A 250 MW solar plant only produces 250 MW when the sun shines just so. If you are comparing the two, it's strickly apples to oranges in favor of solar in the comparison. The solar plant is kaput at night and half kaput in most locations during the days. The others are generally up and running continually producing that power. Much of the costs for solar, gas and coal are fixed. The investment for solar is dead or degraded as far as producing power - most of the time. Not so for the other two.Apr 21 02:32 PM

Same here regarding pain, $850K is now 550. I guess that is a lower-price home *here* in So. Cal. Nationwide, certainly not. The home started at $350K in 2000. It's a nice enough looking but very poorly built track house of 1500 sf.Apr 13 12:38 PM
It's Now 'Official': Ethanol Is a Scam [view article]
This isn't news. We all knew it. The politicians knew it at the time. The information was easily available and quite easily digestible and compelling. It was simply ignored for political gain and everybody and their mother were speaking out against it citing those in-your-face reasons. Made no difference, there were votes to be had. Even the farmers knew it was BS as well, but it was time to get the hand in the til while the gettin was good. The bigger shame was the legit policies were short-circuited and we have lost valuable time. This one is going to cost the rest of us. Apr 12 12:30 PM
