otto, i was general manager of deremate in brazil for 2 years and know the story well. while your article is correct in 99% of the items, you will have to admit that the deremate comment is flatly wrong. MELI has bought deremate's operations in all countries except argentina and chile, which continue to operate outside MELI. there is no single direct competitor to MELI in all countries, especially brazil, in which i live. the competition comes from b2c e-commerce sites such as americanas/submarino (b2w is the name of the holding company), which is the online operation of one of the largest brazilian retailers. it is very strong, but not a direct competition.regards.
