Visa: Near-Term Fluctuations Present a Buying Opportunity
Hey guys, I'm heading out of the country for a 2 weeks vacation in Peru... I'm excited to see where we'll be when I return.

Just FYI, I've got about $7k in Jan09 options now (with about $2.5k of it from V profits)... here's to hoping and praying that V is up when I return! :)

Remember, we need to be in this thing for the long haul... down days are times to buy some more (in a responsible fashion) to take advantage of the long term value of V.

Don't forget that days like these are a GOOD thing for long players... two down days does not change the fundamental value of V. This thing IS a winning INVESTMENT... just remember to treat is as such!

Looks like it grounded out around 84.5 after the market took a big hit at the opening. Good chance that V starts its climb back up...

Options expire on the 3rd Friday of the month... this month options end on May 16.

Thanks for the solid info about expected pull-backs. If anyone wants a little reminder, just take a look at the MA stock record over the past 2 years... meteoric rise (just like I expect with V), but you can surely find days and weeks where the stock pulled back (e.g., see early July to early August 2007).

      finance.yahoo.com/q/bc...

This is perfectly normal and healthy for a stock that is a big winner. So get behind V with full force, but remember to EXPECT pullbacks.

PS -- Hope nobody is offended that I mentioned MA on the post, but I'm simply doing it to support V and remind folks of the short-term risks.

Fencer1, no problem about the mis-click... A-OK with me. :)

Vwinner and others, thanks for the reminders that this is an investment (and a darn good one) and we need to treat it that way.

For those who are new to options, please be very careful of near term expiration dates (May and June). I beleive in V and have placed a big chunck of money on Visa with options, but most of mine expire in Jan 09, I had to pay a higher premium (versus May of June) and will not see as much of a return if the stock jumps up this month. However, it gives me significant leverage versus just buying the stock and will not kill me if V has a correction that lasts a few weeks... I have a long time to ride out any short term fluxuations.

I'm not saying a May of June option is necessarily bad -- I have a few that expire in June -- but I would hate to see people who are new to this lose their shirt just because of a natural pullback in the stock price as it continues is overall climb.

Just want to say thank you to everyone who's posted on this thread. I was waivering about putting even $1k on a V call about a month ago, and the posts on SeekingAlpha convinced me to get in at about $67. Long story short, I've put in another $4k of calls over the past few weeks, and it has paid off nicely! You never know how it will turn on any given day, or if it will pull back, but I've already doubled the investment amount and am very grateful.

Let's hope this stock still has a long way to go up!

Why not buy Chinese Renminbi directly? I believe you can purchase it through Everbank -- it gains 0% interest, but you'll get the appreciation vs the US dollar.
