  • Which Side Of Goldman Sachs Is Right About Gold? [View article]
What about the "Plunge Protection Team", or as they're officially titled, The Working Group on Financial Markets? Specifically, could they act independently of any oversight should they see a crisis coming with respect to the massive, and potentially toxic, Federal Reserve balance sheet of ultra low interest Treasuries? Since the markets might easily be characterized as delusional, counter intuitive, abnormal, etc., what is the possibility of some sort of PPT influence? Am I being paranoid?

My reaction to all the conflicting PM commentary lately was foretold in the 1987 flick, "Raising Arizona".

"Gale: All right, ya hayseeds, it's a stick-up. Everybody freeze. Everybody down on the ground.
Feisty Hayseed: Well, which is it, young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground? Mean to say, if'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'm a-gonna be in motion. You see...
    Gale: Shut up!"

  • U.S. Dollar Breakout: Gold To $1,250, Silver To $19 By Year End [View article]
Krusty, the century long struggle between the Austrians and the Keynesians - since the creation of the Federal Reserve - will likely be coming to an exciting conclusion in the near future, and I'm urging all Keynesians to start preparing rebuttal arguments to those who will inevitably point to Fed failures, like the inability to even mention words such as "tightening" or "tapering" without roiling the markets, as evidence of flaws in certain classic Utopian ideas. The known history of fiat money, central planning, elitist governments, wealth redistribution, and crony capitalism should provide a comforting source of facts and figures in support of what should be obvious to all. Peace.

So why do we need the disclaimer: "past performance may not be indicative of future results"? Why not change it to: "be sure to run this by a young person who will tell you why you're wrong"?

Mike, I would happily pray the pollyannaish picture you just painted might even be close to reality, but you and I both know the unsustainable debt totals here, and around the world, far exceed anything the ever growing list of elitist governments, and their co conspirators the central banks, could possibly contain. The debt clocks are ticking like cartoon time bombs, and the tragically comical financial jury-rigging is simply ensuring the explosion will be all the more devastating - heck, there could easily be multiple "triggering events", but give my regards to Mr Keynes in any case.

I assume the prospect of a "triggering event", a la Lehman Brothers, must be remote in the minds of most PM contrarians these days. Good luck with that.
