@F.J Taylor,I hold no position in RIMM nor AAPL...and I didn't say that Apple is going to lose money with the product it will still sell(why I do not know, but who is going to understand people)...but people with know-how in tech cant possibly buy it over RIMM...I have toyed around with both the AAPL products and RIMM products(with rimm products more I admit)...RIMM products are just far superior(not only I think that pick up any tech journal and compare IPHONE Grades to RIMM)...do not even get me started on the touch screen...so unpractical....Their was no comment made on my behalf which stock will do better whatsoever....I am just talking about the phone...
I am sure AAPL will make a decent profit with their phones no doubt.. and RIMM will continue to also experience profits as well....But with all the other businesses AAPL is involved in it is a much safer buy IMO as well....Especially due to RIMM's valuation....But I wasn't talking about stock prices or future trends of those stocks just the phone and it is just a fact that their is many superior phones on the, EUROPEAN, market than the I-Phone(but the I-Phone just like the I-Pod will probably establish itself as a lifestyle product....not because it is so good but because people move in herds)
With kind regards from Germany, aka my little barrel which I live under, where we don't understand anything of technology...I wish I was an American and could have such a complete understanding of not only technology...but also politics, energy policy, free market,(unless Belgiums try to buy your beer company..hah) etc., so if you could enlighten me all wise-one it would be very much appreciated;)CW

Are you kidding me...no offense but in the United States you guys only have rubbish phones(probably still playing with your razors) besides the blackberry....and the I-Phone is the biggest piece of rubbish out their...I really do not understand anybody who buys that horrible phone...
But in any case the I-Phone is more of a blessing since it gets the attention to smart phones...and anybody who has any common sense would pick a blackberry over an I-phone...So all in all I think the I phone helped RIMM more than it hurt...and the European market is still nothing for Apple since their is at least 10 phones out their who are far superior...AT LEAST...and all that talk about 3G give me a break...surely the I Phone will sell and make apple some money since it is a nice niche product....A nice lifestyle product but that is about it...
But in conclusion that phone is just rubbish and the 3G aspect of it hasn't changed that very much anybody looking for technical aspects in a phone would surely not buy an I-Phone...and the "new phone" release gave RIMM more time till next generation I Phone can actually pose some sort of threat...With kind regards from Germany CW
