I agree with gold barron about 90% silver us coinage. It is true you pay some premium over bullion, however, you also gain numismatic goodwill. If we go the other way and deflate (which in my book is not "off the table") your bullion value could drop like a stone, but, coinage you could get rid of to collectors and not totally lose your shirt. I love all those old coins, nothing against putting presidents faces on them, but, I like when we were more whimsical with our art. Imho The peace dollar is one of the most beautiful renditions of lady liberty Difrancisci was a genious, nice readily available coin that's easy to get into. Morgans are nice too. Barber's etc. Plus if anybody asks you are a coin collector and not some end of the world freak. Old canadian and mexican coins are silvered up too. Interesting thought, back in the day silver was so worthless they made money out of it, don't think another comstock lode is ever out of the question. WWII jefferson nickels were made out of silver because they needed the nickel for armor plating during the war. Interesting (sobering) thought that at one time nickel was worth more than silver.
