Will Too Many Frequency Band Options Delay LTE?

Spectrum harmonization has been the bugaboo for the wireless industry from the get go. Think about all of the miserable consumers in the Americas and Europe who over the years have had to juggle multiple devices because the idiot bureaucrats in Washington and Brussels who due to turf wars and corporate lobbying could not agree to use a common set of spectrum as AMPS was being replaced by GSM, D-AMPS (TDMA), and CDMA. The only way out of this mess now is the widespread adoption of software-defined-radio... when their performance improves to the point that they perform as well as traditional hardware transceivers.
