To sum up the article, the markets may go higher; or they may go lower. It depends.

  • Why We'll Probably See Another Serious Equities Sell-Off [View article]
    Value,

    - the market may tank. However, w/ all the massive gov't deficit spending going on, it seems more likely share prices go higher. The US$ may go the way of the Mexican Peso @ some point; that much is true. In absolute terms though, the stock indexes s/go higher.

  • The Vicious Circle of a Falling Dollar [View article]
    Dr. Leeb,

    - Why do u predict higher interest rates? Why can't the Fed Resv Bank keep buying billion of $$'s of bonds & Treasuries? In this manner, the dollar may drop in value & interest rates w/ stay very low.

  • The Great U.S. Ponzi Scheme: Sell U.S. Treasury Bonds [View article]
    - huh? u say "Not only will Treasury yields decline..." well if treas yields decline, the value of the bond goes up. So really, you're advocating buying T-bills now.

  • Careless in the Cloud: Google Accidentally Shares Some Docs [View article]
The data leakage seems pretty benign & hardly worth the news release. The risk of info being shared is very remote. Besides, it would have been with a former person w/ rights; not with a wider reader base.

Jason, don't u think your post is a bit misleading? Seems like the settings went back to an earlier date. Docs were not shared with others who didn't have sharing priveleges before.

  • Eight Reasons Bank of America Is Going to $20 [View article]
Jason, i agree w/ all your points except the one about Barrack Hussein Obama wanting the stock market to go up. I just don’t see how Obama’s plan to drive up the national debt is going to fix anything. Let alone result in higher stock market values. If deficits were an economic cure, given all the years of running up the national debt, then how come we’re in a recession?

  • One Scary Unemployment Chart [View article]
    • are the Democrats playing politics with the unemployment rate.

    • The historical unemployment rate used to be much higher than it is now. In fact, in the early 1980's, the unemployment rate almost hit 11%. I think it's very odd to now being loading up on trillion dollar debts to address a so-called massive unemployment rate of only 7.6%.

  • E*Trade: The Changing Face of Internet Advertising [View article]
Judy, all good points. I think E-trade is so overspending on advertising it borders on the obscene. Per Etrade’s latest release, they spent a staggering $175.3 mill on advertising & marketing in 2008. That’s even higher than the $138.7 mill they spent the year before. Granted, E-trade is experiencing record growth. However, E-trade is also recognized as having one of the best trading platforms; which doesn’t ever seem to go down when others - such as TD Ameritrade & Schwab - are having problems. In summary, I think E-trade can seriously ratchet down spending. Their product & word of mouth will more than bring customers to them.

  • The Times Made Up That Stuff About Google and the Tea Kettles [View article]
Jason, great catch. Thanks. By the way, the NY Times is considered by most informed people to be a moutpiece for the Democrats, very liberal, and very untrustworthy.

  • GMAC Bailout Flaws: No Appreciation of History  [View article]
Talk about "unintended consequences," wait until GM & Chrysler get accused of dumping their product below cost. Then Ford & the other car companies are going to scale back R&D; cut back production; & possibly go out of business themselves. Just like FDR & the Great Depression - when the Democrats & FDR wouldn't let shoe manufacturers & others go out of business.

  • Has Stagnating Innovation Led to This Economic Crisis? [View article]
Mr. Maher, are u for real? You say "our internet age owes its existence to US government research investment" - c'mon - if u said Bill Gates, Intel, etc... you'd be close, but the US Gov't? u can't be serious. Otherwise, a good article.

  • Paulson's Plan Fails to Understand the Problem; Madoff Is a Perfect Example  [View article]
Shouldn't the gov't bail out Madoff investors. How is this any different than mortgage loan defaults? or bailout money for the UAW, GM, Chrysler, & Ford? $50 bill is a lot to lose. That could mean other positions will have to become unwound. Which could mean massive losses. This do-nothing joke for a prez we have now won't save Madoff's investors. I'm hoping Prez Obama takes care of everyones losses & restores confidence in Wall Street.

As long as the SEC purports to protect the investor; and the investor is hit by fraud; then why not a US Gov't bailout? If the gov't gives $$'s to the farmers, ethanol, car companies, banks, insurers, etc... etc.. why not the defrauded investor? Hopefully, Obama & Co. will have a little more empathy than some of this board.
