Can Anything Displace the iPhone in Consumer's Eyes? [View article]
In addition to the superior design, high quality, rich functionality and ease of use, there is basically just one iPhone product (color and storage aside). The other manufacturers have diluted their brand with a confusing array of too many models, and the phone you buy today will be an old model tomorrow. Eg. if I were to consider a Blackberry, do I get the Bold, Storm, or Thunder, and will the one I want now still be the one I want tomorrow. So, in my view the Iphone's appeal is obvious.
Apple's accounting for iPhone revenue is fine; this is one of the reasons why Apple will have sustainable earnings in the next 18 months to ride out the recession. A true investor would understand and appreciate this, while a trader would not.
Why I [Don’t] Want My Blackberry Bold [View article]
Maybe their market intelligence told them there is no one left to buy a bold because they already bought the iphone. I also toyed with a demo unit and I wouldn't want one!
Apple: Great Company with Lofty Valuation - Due for Pullback [View article]
One more thing; for those who might take exception to my apparent frivolous comments in defense of Apple, this is no different from the writer of the article who is equally frivolous, except he is more verbose by regurgitating statements we have already read repeatedly elsewhere. Of more important and timely significance is the fact that AAPL is holding its own today in a very down market and it appears that institutional buying on the rise, moving from -6.4% to -5.6%. So, if AAPL is due for a pull back its would only be because the shorts would like to see one.

The question is....which big bank to put your money into; I bet they all won't be around in 2010, and as fro those fat dividends, they will go the way GM dividends went.
Apple: Great Company with Lofty Valuation - Due for Pullback [View article]
There is a counter point to negate every one made in this article. The one I will focus on is "heavy insider selling". In the past six months those sales were at prices ranging from $140 to $172, AAPL closed last Friday at $176, so what is the significance of this selling? People have to exercise options if they are about to expire. Personal income taxes have to be paid on the gain, and where will the cash come from to pay these taxes??
Research In Motion's 3G Counteroffensive: The Smartphone Arms Race Escalates [View article]
The iphone (aka Pocket Mac) is Apple's trojan horse which will introduce Max OS to the masses and accelerate market share gains for the Mac computers. Get it? I doubt Apple wanted to be in the cell phone business, but it is a great catalyst.

".....just because a bunch of teens & 20s are buying iphones, that doesn't outweigh the vast majority of the work force in America & beyond."
Not Yet, but in 12 months......... and tens of million iphone purchasers is a tad more than a 'bunch. Not even Apple can be expected, in a few months, to unseat an incumbent which has had a few years headstart (and is now playing catch up technology wise).

The Thunder will be too little, too late and will go under. The Kickstart is ironically aptly named, as it will likely be the last resort in an attempt to resuscitate a dying brand.
Research In Motion's Pullback is an Opportunity [View article]
"I wouldn't be surprised if Apple stock drops a little. iPhone sales have got to be very weak in the 2nd quarter...."
Keep hoping! The expected 'weak' 2nd quarter for iphone sales is the reason AAPL is at the $175 level instead of the $200 level, and RIM missed even though there was virtually no competition from Apple. Wait to see the end of the current quarter when iphones are available in 2000+ stores.
