I agree with buoy (above). I have some reservations about Merck acquiring Schering which has never been in the same league as Merck. I sure hope Dick Clark knows what he's doing!
More than Economic Factors Lie Behind U.S. Auto Sales Drop [View article]
I still cannot understand why American ingenuity seems to be incapable of designing an affordable car that can compete with the foreign (Japanese, especially) manufacturers. Where are the brilliant designers and engineers in this country? If there are none to be found here, then let's look elsewhere. Perhaps, Italian designers can create a fuel-efficient car with great eye-appeal that can capture the American market. It's way past time to look beyond SUV's, etc. We need safety, reliability, fuel-efficiency, and beauty of design in a car that is affordable.
What this country needs is "Republicrats"...non-p... leaders in both major parties who will do what's best for the American people! There has been far too much in the way of selfishness in the Congress. We need true statesmen now more than ever in these dangerous times.
Oil Industry: Farewell, Good Old Days [View article]
Isn't it strange that as we get closer to the Presidential election, the prices of gasoline and heating oil are dropping? Why do you suppose that is? Also, these prices rise and fall with the stock market, it seems.
Is a Hurricane Lurking for Merck and Schering-Plough? [View article]
If there is a "link" to cancer with Vytorin, which component is said to be responsible, Zocor or Zetia? It seems that it would have to be the Zetia, if indeed it is either one, as Zocor has been around for many years with no complaint. Also, what kind of cancer are they talking about? This entire situation demands explicit answers! It seems that just about anything we consume these days has some kind of cancer "link" attached to it. Let's be clear and say exactly what the facts are!
Merck, Schering-Plough: More Nails in Vytorin’s Coffin [View article]
I agree with the above comments. Both my wife and I take Vytorin with excellent results. Merck is being unfairly attacked in the media. Why are so many people intent on dragging down this great company whose pioneering efforts have brought so many life-saving medicines and vaccines to market? Let's get all of the facts. God forbid that this latest "episode" will only serve to encourage more lawsuits. Merck has always been a leader in its field and needs more support in order to pursue its attempts to defeat such scourges as heart disease, cancer, and other life-threatening diseases. Generic companies are always quick to pounce upon the opportunity to profit from the research efforts of companies like Merck while investing zero in research of their own.
