Gold - Hmm, thanks for buying mine Friday. Inflation - Sure, because there's just huge piles of money chasing consumer goods right now. There's nothing like the beauty of a perceived increase in future prices to get the consumer shopping again, just in time for Christmas?
This thesis leaves out too many details Peter, and where was the interest in gold a few weeks ago? I remember hearing a lot about how gold was about to dive.
I think we all need to do some more homework before jumping to conclusions, if it were so simple, gold would already be $5000/oz. I can envision several mechanisms that could be used for paying down interest on the federal deficit without inflating, but haven't heard any consideration of this subject from inflationista's. The FED must have a myriad of ways for reeling in inflation and will do so at the appropriate time.
How many poor schlubs are going to be caught buying gold at prices which are too high for justification? Maybe once gold begins to outperform the S&P I'll think about buying it once again but right now I'm more concerned about an equities market sell off. That would hammer precious metals prices.
No One Saw This Economic Crisis Coming? [View article]
Of course the US government's economic advisers (Goldman Sachs) didn't see the economic crisis coming. They were too busy buying up Credit Default Swaps from AIG. Wink, wink!!! ☺

"AL had sent a letter to subscribers showing how through their studies, the purity of Silvercorp's ore is much less than was stated by the company."
I suppose you neglected to renew your subscription?
Sounds like front-running, is that an illegal practice?
So I was wondering about how so many people seemed to be involved in this practice of front-running their trades, and I found an article explaining how to perform DD on these companies with Chinese operations:
So I'm trying to understand the investing sequence here, does it involve first doing research, then taking a position, and following that step, publishing a scathing set of unverifyable/misleading allegations? Which part of this sequence takes precidence, seems the first step is assigned the lowest priority in terms of complete honesty.
Hmm, do professional analysts follow that same protocal, many times I see they they don't appear to be front-running their articles, or they don't admit they are ("I may take a position within 72 hours") which I suppose doesn't guarantee someone isn't. Are analysts well paid? Perhaps this all depends on who is paying their salaries? Anyway, this whole front-running business you seem to be glorifying has a distinct odor of dishonesty about it.
Don't you agree it seems quite irresponsible on the surface (To publish a scathing article with full-court accusations based on third-party information)? Not that I would, but where does one sign up to play sherriff in this wild-west show?.
The Inflation / Deflation Debate and China's Commodity Carry Trade [View article]
You have good insight Mark Anthony. Please keep writing and let us know what's really happening in China. The Chinese people have worked very hard, including the last decade I seem to detect their lifestyle improving (assuming progress actually equates to improvement, a debatable subject).
Now I hope we can move on to the next stage.

"Jack seemed to plant an awful lot of magic stalks and they are all in China."
You need to wake up Waldo, a company in China can hire forty employees for every 1 in the US, that's a huge advantage(among a host) you conveniently dismiss in your campaign of spin.
If your investment club has proof of fraud, you certainly haven't proved it conclusively, just allegations so far, like trying to claim stone collected from the road side is representative of the ore excavated from the mines.
No proof provided of wrong doing, just highly publicised allegations and innuendos.
Your club appears exceedingly disingenuous and misleading in your allegations concerning Silvercorp.

Yes, I too recognize this game of back and forth for what it is. Why not do the right thing for a change, and just take your concerns directly to the regulatory authorities?
Gold Is Still the Opportunity of a Lifetime [View article]
The problem with gold is it removes capital from the market where it can do the economy the most good. Unfortunately, due to a pure lack of ethics and the fact there are so many issues involving the self interests of our Congress and big banking industry, it is not easy to find a place to park your wealth without incurring loss.
That said, I think it is a mistake to buy gold high and sell low, now isn't the time to buy, wait a month at least and you'll be more apt to catch the next cycle low. The $USD should begin to recover now that gold has once again bounced into $1k territory, and some equities downside from here would be my expectation as well.
FD: I'm short gold this morning from just above the $1K level.

This guy claims he went to college with Carson Block, I didn't know Carson had attended College, I wouldn't have guessed that:
"In January, I toured Orient Paper and produced a video (see below) of the facilities. I liked the company and owned the stock. To my surprise, there were two other Americans present, and to my even greater surprise they happened to be former classmates of mine from the University of Southern California. They are Carson Block and Sean Regan of Muddy Waters Research."
I found an interesting article explaining how the Muddy Waters research group performs their Due Diligence, I recommend reading this article so you can learn how it's all done for(Muddy Waters).:
