Why Chasing Yields Will Lead to Disappointment [View article]
Having had the luck or foresight to buy Payx at 21, having missed ADP before it's rise, I feel good about my long term prospects for dividends and appreciation. Shouda couda wouda.....bought ADP before it's dividend increase and more of Payx @ 20-21. But not complaining with a loaf of bread under my arm.
Regarding comment by 422955 about MLP. The extra tax tools you purchase. Would they be recovered under the tax code and become a deduction thus costing 0 ? You can also call the IRS and they will help you over the phone to understand and how to report these gains.
MLPs I guess require a little more thinking and work at tax time but a 15% return seems worth the effort.

So glad as a parent I can pass off any failure of my children onto the city, state, teachers, too much money in the system, too little money, etc.etc. blah! blah! blah!.

To apply your criteria to it's logical conclusion you would not want to be buying any company with anything to do with Communism. So no companys dealing with China.

What a great discussion. Here is my two cents. Shopping at the mall became/is entertainment. If some malls close, what will those folks do to entertain themselves? And you have to figure those folks probably don't have as much money as they did a year ago.
If my premise is correct who benifits? Where will discretionary dollars go?
With this most recent series of fiasco's does it still make sense to push for doing away with SS for the next generation and privatize their retirement?
Have to agree with notsosmart. Those unemployment numbers never include folks whose unemployment has run out, nor does it include those who just stopped looking.
If history is any indicator of the future, acting on our water shortage will be similar to our acting on our fossil fuel energy/enviroment problems. Not much will happen until we are in crisis mode. That said, I hold a position in WTR and other such utilities. Most of these have been taken down in price during the past six months and present decent entry points.
I do not trust the bank dividends. WB sid they would not cut and now are thinking about making a second. There are more shoes to drop on these thousand leggers.
GE and T I own and would like to buy them on serious dips.
Do not know a lot about Dupont but what little I know agrees with your view.
