  • Seadrill beats by $0.50, misses on revenue [View news story]
Yeah, the outlook always seems to be quite dim but can' be the reason for a 6% drop. Looks like they locked down some good contracts and the slow down is pretty short term. They going to slow down on building but they have a lot of construction going on at the moment.

  • S&P posts first-ever close above 2,000 [View news story]
Guess with all the macro-economic factors, that's what's everyone is trying to figure out, going around saying margin debts too high or P/E are too high seems like it's taking an overly narrow view. But yes totally agree on the crying wolf, and those guys calling for a 20% correction in 2013, when it finally happens, will be saying they "predicted" it in 2013.

  • Industrial Metals' Dramatic Drops Show Miners Probably Have A Tough Road Ahead In 2014 [View article]
In my opinion the drop in exports is due to the Chinese new year's (to a large extent). Pretty much nothing goes on their during that time, but we'll see come the March numbers. I'm quite surprised it's not even mentioned.

  • Corning's Gorilla Glass Is Optically Superior To Sapphire [View article]
My understanding was that Gorilla glass has always been the choice for lower cost items where the margins are thinner. And I don't think the article disputes that, just mentions the reflectivity differences and why from that single stand-point one would be better than the other. So why argue that it's not made for high-end products ($480,000 watch)? I think that point is pretty well understood by most that even remotely follow these stocks.

  • Corning's Gorilla Glass Is Optically Superior To Sapphire [View article]
"Bashing" is a bit of a strong word, just pointing out the different applications of both glass types considering the user's preferred glass qualities (Reduced reflectivity).

GTAT and GLW aren't zero sum investments. Diversification bonuses can be had by investing in both.
