Is There a Margin of Safety in Financials?

The whole thing stinks so bad I can't believe people still think this is nothing more than normal correction after which the bull market will resume. The obvious panic in the Fed and blatant lies coming from Paulson as he tries to spin the economy back to life say it all. It's just a matter of time before everyone figures out that sticking a finger in the dike won't avert the impending catastrophe. Doing everything possible to keep the US go out of the deep recession that is a necessity after decades of artificial expansion (through credit) will only make the fall harder. There is no avoiding the pain on the horizon.
