Ok, so what are the names of the reps in congress who "allow" this to continue? Surely their names aren't proprietary? And what bills, exactly, are being stymied?

AlexS, thanks for connecting the US dots. When reading the article my brain was focused on foreign refiners. It seems to me that, altho US refiners could indeed benefit from the sudden crack spread when developing countries end their gasoline subsidies, refiners in those countries could benefit even more so with a "doubling" of petrol prices. Specifically, I would look for refiners in those countries.
As for buying US refiners right now and waiting for the turnaround while my principal shrinks, that's what I feel I have BEEN doing these last few months with other O&G investments! LOL

I divorced my wife. She wanted to keep the 1950sqft house that ate $700/mo in utilities, was taxed at $2000/yr, needed the yard mowed, needed $1000/mo in fashionable "upgrades," wanted to eat out 3 times/wk, etc etc.
I now live in a small RV beside a beautiful lake. I had retired at 49 and planned to "die broke," if you know what I mean, but she was just too expensive! She actually wanted me to go get a job!!! Can you imagine?!?! Get a job so she could continue to upgrade and live in a house that was too large for us.
I moved to a small town where most everything is within walking distance and the rest can be gotten with one trip weekly into the larger town (3 gals per round trip).
My (our) monthly bills used to average $6000/mo, and now my (mine alone) bills are $1500/mo, incl health. In short, I downsized my life and am loving it!
I pity you young adults with kids. You're screwed. Me? I think I'll go out and do a little canoeing on the lake.

So what if ACAS tried to get a bargain? Don't we all? And if it really is a forced sale of an illiquid company, isn't a bargain price appropriate? Things are tight all the way around. Long ACAS.
