In 1980 the only time gold was over $800. was in January with a high of $875. and a January low of $558. The low for the year was $453. in march.
So even if you did buy on Jan.21,1980 and averaged your out buys the rest of the year ,you still have a good return.

Sometimes different forms of silver have a better premium when selling it.So it's a good idea to have a few different forms to take advantage,plus the only pure silver coins are 1 oz.Silver Eagles.If you are going to barter it is a good idea to have different denominations,small and large.What good would a Silver Eagle be if it's worth $50.and you want to barter for something worth $20.?
When you do decide to sell coins,eagles and small bars are very easy to sell anywhere,large bars sometimes have to be sent out to be assayed.
But what ever you do just buy some physical silver and hold on to it.
Long term it will be the best investment you ever made.

Dimes are a pain to check in less you have mercury heads Roosevelt were made in silver and clad (you have to look at all dates)Quarters get a little easie. Half dollars are a pain to if there all kennedy because they made them in 90% 40% and clad.Your best bet is with half dollars,are Franklins.

The biggest thing hurting aluminum right is the auto industry,with construction coming in second,until they pick up aluminum will stay weak.There is a big inventory out there,that must come down before that market starts to move.There may be a spike in the market if China starts to load up on it next year,possibly in the spring.Copper may have a good jump before the year is out.I do agree with 2012-2013 we will start to see some record high prices in all base metals.2010 will be a good up year for all metals.

I don't see gold hitting 1200. in the next coulpe of weeks,but it will before the year is out.Either way it will get there and drag silver with it.

Scrap gold is drying up because the high price brought it all out of hiding,the only scrap now is going to be the new scrap(scrap being made now).Plus the only reason demand of investment gold will drop,is because things are getting better,when that happens jewellery demand will pick up and take up the slack.either way it's going to keep gold at a pretty high price.
