  • Tesla Factory Electrifies Lithium Producers [View article]
Based on the fact that technology is changing exponentially , and then some , predicting battery technology past 2 years from now is dangerous. By then "batteries " could conceivably be made from completely different compounds. Never the less I have strong faith in Elon Musk that he will be the one to discover it or invent it.

China does not want Face Book at all in that country. It is now blocked there. I doubt any thing will change that.

  • How First Solar Will Win In The Solar Market [View article]
Very enlightening and well researched article. Thank you. Needed a bit of encouragement as I bought some FSLR stock which has been going down in price since. Will be hanging on for future growth.
About nickel cadmium batteries though I thought that was now old technology. They seem to be disappearing completely as there have been better battery technologies. You say that 80% of cadmium is used for batteries ? Did not know that.

Yes and the tooth fairy does exist too. They are just saying that in public. In private I don't think so.

  • L.A. Auto Show wrap: Back to the Future [View news story]
There seems to be this odd desperation to compete blindly with tesla. The fuel cell thing move is not feasible. Fuel cell cars cannot be charged at home like the EVs .
Setting up a charging station at home costs less than $100.00 and some manual electrical work. I just finished helping a friend install his Tesla home station.
In order to charge a fuel cell car a very expensive hydrogen producer would need to be purchased. There are NO consumer hydrogen units yet. Playing around with the technology is very dangerous.
Go ahead by all means produce some a fuel cell car then Tesla will be the only viable option.
It would be cost prohibitive and take time to produce affordable hydrogen generators. You would also need to start a hydrogen producing company and new fuel pumps and trucks that can carry liquefied hydrogen. Good luck with that. There will be more than just battery fires. There will be massive explosions.

  • Barclays warns on lasting impact of Tesla recall [View news story]
Nicely written. If that was a school paper you would undoubtably get an "A" .
however the real problem is that there are so many car fires caused by anything but debris or accidents. I myself have seen a few cars driving nicely down a highway with flames shooting out. Why I have no idea. I just wave my hands till I get the drivers attention and they pull over. I have seen a LOT of gas powered cars on the side of the round in huge flames so bad that the fire department have a hard time putting it out. I have know about quite a few accidents in gas powered cars where the car caught fire so fast that they burned alive. I can go on. You rarely hear that much from the media about a gas car burning up with people it. We are used to the idea that accidents happen.
Now Tesla is being held to an impossible standard. Did Ford get driven out of business when the Pinto exploded when receiving a rear impact? No they kept making them.
What about debris in the road? No one talks about the deaths from people who drive a gas car who hit an object sending the car out of control.
NO other driver has survived a high speed crash that went through concrete and still hit a tree besides. At least you never hear about it.
The fact is what ever the model s weakness is NO one has died. Not from the accident or from the fire. No one.

  • The Model S knocks it out of the park in satisfaction survey [View news story]
These problems Tesla is having were inevitable from the start. He has a lot of enemies in this cut throat "free" market of ours. There are a lot of companies standing to benefit from all the negative publicity. Namely the oil companies and now that Tesla came out with the first high performance highly technical luxury car that means that the public have finally started accepting an ev as an alternative. So all the "big" car companies now want into the action.
The media benefits because they sell bad news and never seem to be liable for the damage they do.
That said I have great faith in Elon Musk's great ingenuity and I am quite certain he will figure his way out of this.

Musk has enough money. We forgot the term "lobbyists" maybe not quite the word here. The bottom line money talks and politicians like money.
