The FDA's reticence in approving drugs for deadly diseases because of a minor statistical procedural failing, or seemingly without reason whatsoever (such as Dendreon's prostate drug, Elan's MS drug) will eventually drive most of the innovative biotechs to seek relief overseas, or to begin their drug sales in places such as China, India, Russia, etc. Not only do i fear the loss of choice this leaves the patient in the US, but i fear that this will result in the US losing it's edge in Biotech. Unfortunately, it will be a punishment we have "prescribed" for ourselves... by demanding absolute safety and absolute efficacy from our drug companies' products.
