The New Reality for Higher Education [View article]
The community college here in Las Vegas has upgraded itself to a full college. That just ups the "prestige" not to mention salarys. The function of a community college should be to provide specialized training needed by local industry. It should also project coming needs like "solar technicians and installers" and set up programs to provide additional knowledge for people to survive in the workplace. It has to be flexible and aware of what's going on. It should also provide the math, science and english remediation needed for students to enter 4-year colleges and suceed. It's a terrible waste to have college professors spending their time doing this.

There's no way I can forsee a recovery until the banks put up ALL the forclosed homes on the market. Here in Vegas there is still a heavy precentage of "unreported" units.
I'm still a novice when it comes to ETF. This is the 1st article that I read that mentioned an "indicated value" . Where is that found? And does it cover all ETF's? Thanks

Thanks for the thoughts. Over the years I've written to Utility board members to stop basing CEO raises on: "the average of 3/5 other utility CEOs"...to no avail. And to heads of stock funds to not give raises unless the factor for performance is based on at least 6 quarters of increases in bottom lines. But most still use 1/4....shame on the board members who only line their own pockets. Throw out all board members will sit on more than one board, or are in the same industry, in fact I believe they all should be voted out unless they are more responsive to stockholders needs. Like setting 2 year growth minimums as a start.

Westport Innovations in Canada (TSX-WPT) is a manufacturer of natural gas conversion systems that rework the Cumings diesel to burn natural gas. This is what is working for the Port of LA. It reduces the particulates and NG is more economical to run then diesel by almost 30%. A big saving in fuel costs.
