Well, another issue for Microsoft is that they actually compete with their own customers and by that actually cannabises on the same group that they should support. Meaning, Microsoft is a leading provider of OS that are used by a vast majority of companies around the globe. So by launching competing services such as webmail, banners systems, portals, hardware series, game console, etc the end will turn the backs on Microsoft. This also also what happens now when some companies and as well governments are looking for alternatives to Microsoft OS and software.

It all adds up to that one should help ones customers to be more competitive and not compete against them.
