Amazon Takes On eBay’s PayPal With New Service

I own/run several ecommerce sites that use PayPal.

I just checked the Amazon pricing for this and I instantly come away with "no thanks".

The rates are pretty much the same as paypal - so no real incentive for me to recode all of my sites.

Here's the deal killer for me, I spend the money in my paypal account through my paypal credit card which gives me a 1.5% instant rebate.

So my net rate at PayPal is 1.4% + .30 per tranaction.

Even at the 100K a month level, I will lose money using the Amazon system.

Do these people understand anything about the payment market?

For now, Amazons new system is a YAWN!

It will take some business away from PayPal as many people hold an all out hatred towards ebay and Paypal. So ebay stock looks to be the loser here as they depend on PayPal to make up for the mismanagement of Donahoe.

Amazon: Recession? What Recession?

Amazon is up because eBay is slowing killing itself.

Approximately 1 in 30 listings at eBay are from Buy.com

Mostly Chinese junk that I can buy anywhere at the same or lower price.

I've stopped selling and buying at eBay.

I've started shopping more at Amazon and Overstock.

Both companies offer a far better online "buyer experience" than the eBay.

It's also becoming easier for people with talent to bypass the music industry all together.

If you're good, there is no need for contracts with record labels. More and more bands are producing and releasing their own music.

Either offering it for free or selling it at "whatever you think it's worth" prices.

Music companies are dinosaurs...

Amazon Earnings: Solid, With Better-Than-Expected Outlook

Amazon is taking market share from ebay.

Ebay is full of scams, junk, stolen merchandise and Chines knock offs.

Actions to "clean up the site" are driving out good sellers and leaving the trash behind.

I routinely buy from Amazon and rarely (1 or 2 times a year) buy something on ebay.

A large chunk the population of this country is a good distance from a town with major stores.

For us rural folk, it's far cheaper to buy at places like Amazon and pay shipping than it is to drive our car 60 miles round trip to pick up something we want.

As gas goes higher, more people will choose delivery rather than getting it themselves.
