  • NQ Mobile: Hurry Up And Explain It Already! [View article]
    BM,

If you look into any business, there would always be missing data and missing "many" devices. The business cannot explain why they were missing because they were missing and 99% of the time, no body cared.

  • Citigroup beats by $0.19, beats on revenue [View news story]
    They called it managing expectations:

Adjusted revenue from fixed income markets fell 12 percent to $2.9 billion - a much better outcome than the drop of 20-25 percent that Chief Financial Officer John Gerspach had braced the market for in May.

    Libby,

All company, including each of the fortune 500 firms, have funny business going on in one or more entities within their empire. There will always be crooks at ibm or google or nq.

    JoeNat,

I had gone through quite a few Chinese MBO's in the past 4 years. The shorts would depict the offers as phony, non-binding, more fleecing to the very day before closing out the transactions. YONG was the latest example and you can follow the fiasco in yahoo's MB.

  • NQ Mobile: New Short Data Shows Continued Pressure [View article]
Just my observation, only a few die-hard longs remain on NQ threads in message boards and is reflected by its near all time low share price. When all sellers have sold, remaining players are either buyers or buyers. Also like to point out that there are negligible puts at $3 and below. I would think Carson Block and his believers would be loading up their yak carts at $1 when PwC were to resign soon.

    Joe,

I do agree with you that NQ needs to clear the air on your concerns on the SC points on missing data. Was it about emails or expense reports that might include private information (lunch trysts, call girls for clients, side trips to mistresses, kick back from vendors ...). What devices were they, videocam tapes? handsets? portable drives ... Company owned or employee's BYODs?

Have you email or talk to Kim or Matt about your anguish and anger?

Lastly, vote with your feet ... you have been with NQ for at least 6 months and felt betrayed by NQ. Why hang around? Heck, you won't hang around outside Ruby's home for 6 months when seeing guys coming in and out of her pad for as long right?

    hopeful,

NQ, or any of those 3000 publicly traded companies are taking money from the public WHO ARE WILLING and ABLE to hand them over.

If investing or trading stocks are guaranteed wins, we would all be in Sun Valley Conference now.

Not according to his disclosure since he has been putting out articles faster than or very close to the 72 hours window.

  • Single-family rental business model in question [View news story]
    WSD,

No need. Those MBAs already got it figured out. Besides the subcontractors under Home Depot or Sears, I am seeing many independently owned sewer trucks, carpet cleaners, law services, concrete sub, house painters, roofers, garage door repair, waater tank replacements ... paying some central dispatcher to tap into home repairs for landlords large and small. They are charging cheap flat rates unless something serious.

Yes, short term and if the home is less than a few years old. When something went wrong, like frozen/broken pipes, clogged drains, plugged gutters, malfunction appliances etc, you better fix them fast or risk the home getting damaged by those something wrongs. That's way you would be lucky to get a 70% loan to value from the banks ... and hope for a good tenant.

  • Single-family rental business model in question [View news story]
It is simply a business. The managers must charge the owners based on higher expenses and the owners set the rent for acceptable cash flow.

Scenario is a home owner pay someone 8% annually pluses maintenance costs to interface with renters, be it one home or 20 homes around town. It's only business.

They call it lease options to buy ... been around since the 60's and 70's. During hard times in housing, as the 17% mortgage rates in 1980's or crushed home prices in 2008 to 2009, that is a win-win strategy for buyers/sellers.

    SL,

I spoke in generality that it helped to have friends and relatives with means to obtain capital in difficult times like dot-com bubble and financial meltdown last decade. I have not looked into the relative ease in Qihoo's incubating era. Could be an exception.

I live in Silicon Valley and that is a very good reason why parents worked two jobs to send their kids to schools with connections.
