Ethanol's Persecution Complex: To Rehabilitate Its Image, It Must Understand the Issues

The most efficient and cost effective biofuel is sugarcane based ethanol. That is true today and it has been true for over 30 years. U.S. government policies are so deeply mired in politics and corrupted by lobbying that I have lost hope for this country. We will continue to argue and point figures while other countries rapidly develop effective alternative energies.

Sugarcane based ethanol is a far superior choice to corn based ethanol. We can import it from Central and South American countries.

Of course Barack Obama supports corn based ethanol. He answers to the Acher Daniels Midland company and he is from a corn producing state, Illinois.

Ethanol Producers in Trouble as Corn Sets New Record

At some point people outside of Brazil will realize the benefits of sugarcane based ethanol. It might not happen in the United States because our federal government is effectively run by large US corporations, but I do believe Brazilian ethanol companies will be able to export large quantities of sugarcane based ethanol in the not to distant future. Maybe China, India or other markets. I am long on Cosan (CZZ) and willing to wait. All of the mis-information about sugar cane based ethanol will go away and the truth will prevail in the long run. Sugarcane ethanol is one fuel that can be used to supplement gasoline.
