  • Can Options Spikes Be a Coincidence? [View article]
"And one other thing: if you did have inside information that 3Com was being bought by Nokia, you’d make more money simply buying the stock than you would buying the options. The only reason to buy the options is if you simply don’t have the cash to buy the stock."

Not sure what you are drinking, but COMS was bought by HPQ. Also, had you bought the COMS $5 calls before the announcement the buyer would have 5 times the investment !

Could you be a bit more specific on the trades ?

On DRYS, you mention the strike price of $7.00, but do not mention if you are buying or selling, calls or puts !

"I took a position", is not great investment advice .

  • 23 Bullish Breakouts on Big Volume [View article]
May I suggest another consideration should be short interest in a stock, since initial breakouts are in part short covering.

Also, to what degree should a breakout be discounted until the former high becomes support ?

  • Unemployment Claims: Watch the Distortions [View article]
When Bush was President the unemployment rate was 6% and MSM told us that it was the worst economy in 50 years.

  • Eight Restaurants with the Right Recipe for Lean Times [View article]
Just wondering how the bottom line of any restaurant will fare if/when the companies are forced to provide health insurance for all or pay another 8% or more additional payroll tax ?

Other cost increases could show up in higher energy cost due to "Cap and Trade".

Combine these considerations with a difficulty to raise prices in a slow economy ?

    Something to think about ?

  • Are Discount Broker Shares Worth Owning? Depends Which One [View article]
With the proliferation of even lower commissions from various other brokerage firms, ETrade and Ameritrade may be considered "Discount" house in name only.
