Currency Pair Overview: Dollar Gains as Commodities Fall

Never say never, but to anybody who lives in the UK outside the rarefied (and self-interested) confines of the Square Mile or Canary Wharf, a rate rise looks utterly implausible. If the BOE were to raise, something which looks pretty unlikely whatever this week's inflation figures might say, it would be as much a political act as an economic decision - with Gordon Brown lying under the dagger.
