Well written article. Thank you. Without Seeking Alpha authors and BDC Reporter, small investors like myself could not hope to be informed of BDC developments. Love your work Nicholas Marshi!

I agree with the author and with Ray. (Is it acceptable to agree with both?) Long ETP, ETE, EPD, and KMP.

  • Ares Capital: The Titan Of The BDC Industry [View article]
Adam..Thank you for another well written, concise article. I totally agree that ARCC is the cream of the BDC crop and I have a large position here that I cannot add to and remain within portfolio % limit parameters. That said, your article should serve as a vehicle for additional due diligence for prospective investors seeking higher yield within safer harbors of risk management.

IMO, the partnership agreement with GE does in fact allow ARCC a higher yield for a smaller investment. It also allows GE less loss than ARCC on any loan that goes south. Just something to keep in mind.

As with all BDC's (and all investments) risk is the name of the game. It seems the general SA readership adores PSEC. However, IMO, PSEC carries significantly more risk than ARCC. But I do not expect the SA audience to buy into that belief. Keep up the great writing.

    Doug

  • Thank You, Bears, For Attractive Purchase Prices [View article]
sdraziw- Just FYI, Highstar capital was one of the original partner/investors (along with Goldman) when Kinder took KMI public. Highstar still remains as one of the largest holders of KMI stock with about 61 Million shares dated 12/21/13 by Morning Star.
I guess it is great they are buying more at these prices.

  • Kinder Morgan Energy Partners: Lessons From The Bear Attack [View article]
Over the 35 years I've been investing I have been guilty of chasing stocks higher and even trying to catch a falling knife, or two. I have quite a large position in combined KMP, KMI and KMR holdings BUT, given the current situation, I find myself wanting to jump in and scoop up more Kinder shares.

As much as temptation calls for buying action, I think I'll wait and see how this turns out. Best of luck to all of you that muster the courage to take advantage of the beaten down Kinder shares.

    GLF4MNY-

Hey dude...KMI, KMP, KMR is about 5% of my portfolio. That is about $100,000.
Is that more or less than you? That's what I thought.

  • BCE Inc. Dividend Fact Sheet [View article]
Dividend Engineer - Well written article. Wish I had placed more emphasis on BCE than RCI but I thought Rogers would pull ahead in the Canadian market and grow it's dividend more. Still, I am long (in order of holding size) RCI, BCE and Shaw.
I would be interested in knowing your projections on dividend safety and growth for both Rogers and Shaw.

    Thanks for a good read!

    PJM

I think Barron's article is negatively biased for unknown intentions. I do not agree with their thoughts but they are allowed to write their opinion regardless of whether they might try to short the stock or have an ax to grind. I will certainly not pay for any Barron's products.
