  • Apple Is Poised To Disrupt Another Industry [View article]
Hank890, the evidences lay on Apple's 2013 released products.
They haven't released one single innovation, they have just made a cosmetic re-styling of the old products and consumers are shifting towards other competitors.
Did you notice how empty were the Apple stores in the second half of 2013 versus same period last year?
Did you notice that the biggest innovation they have announced to launch is an iphone with a bigger screen!!!???
Again, I was a big fan of Apple, but the current management lacks of innovation and they are bleeding consumers out of their ecosystem...
I will consider to buy back Apple only if the management change or if they can seriously prove to deliver real novels in the market.

What do you expect from Tim Cook?

I remember I read about Cook saying ''we have amazing hardware coming up'' in Q2 last year.
Since then, they have delivered a new (not really new) Iphone, a cylindrical Mac-pro and a slightly thinner lap-tops (not even touch screen laptops)...
This guy is not reliable and doesn't deliver the promise... there is no a single really ''new'' product released by Apple since Jobs has left.

I was more looking at Lenovo as competitors in the mobile phone space, but they are doing good progresses to improve the design of laptops too.
I personally own a mac book air, but it is likely that next one will be a Lenovo Ultrabook Yoga..
Out of the nice design, their laptop is touch-screen too... Apple has no ''touch screen'' laptops, just to make you understand how far behind they are versus the current technology...

Dan , I agree with you.
In the last month, Google made a long term patents agreement with Samsung, sold Motorola to Lenovo and kept the patents too, bought AI, Home automation and robotics companies...
It is very clear to me that Google, Samsung and Lenovo are joining forces to surround Apple IOS and products.
In response, apple has not any novel idea coming... eventually they will buy back their shares.. that's it... they have lost their leadership in innovation and this is equal to be dead company.
Apple has no a vision for the future hence they cannot sustain their market share for too long.
    Watch out...

Diaboliqueguan, you are missing to see the movements happening around Apple.
Google who makes a long term patents agreement with Samsung, Lenovo jumping in the mobile business/fashionable phones market while Google will keep some of the patents... Google making acquisitions, in AI, robotics and home-automation...
These three companies are creating a macro-environment which is likely to surround Apple IOS, phones and tablets...
All our home appliances will run under Android: our TV, Owen, Fridge, etc... IOS will disappear, you would not find anyone investing in a closed micro-system owned by Apple.

IOS could be considered an advantage if Apple would have gained more market share by compromising with margins.
Unfortunately, Apple didn't compromise on margins and IOS is going to be a ''micro-system'' that nobody really want to invest on and nothing else...
IOS is based on objective-c which is the most hated programming language by developers. If Apple market share will shrink further, developers are likely to dump IOS and focus on Android only.

What I meant is that on my opinion to get a chunk of casual gamers doesn't change the future prospects for Apple.
They will not lead the gaming industry, they will not lead the TV market, they will not lead in tablets and phones... This is the issue for Apple...
They have lost the leadership and there are not evidence or signals that they can sustain their business for too long without coming up with a disruptive product.
This will impact the share price heavily...

Concerns around Apple is not the cash they have in their bank but the fact that they have done nothing to show they have a strategic vision to sustain their market in the near future and so the share price.
They should have spent that money to make acquisitions and develop new products rather than pile them up and let people like Icahn to hope for a buy back or increase in dividends...

They could even have 300B cash in the bank, but if they will loose market share, their share price will anyway go down

I was a big fan of Apple product and company until one year ago.
Last year they have proved to have nothing interesting in their development pipeline... they are running out of new ideas...Just look at Google recent acquisitions to understand that Apple has not a ''vision'' to strategically sustain their business in the near future...
It is unlikely that Apple would be able to deliver a home gaming product able to compete with SONY, Microsoft and Nintendo. Gaming is a complex business.
Apple TV is not a novel in the market.
Lenovo is now one new Apple competitor in the mobile space and has proved to be able to develop nice ''look and feel'' products too.
Google, Samsung and Lenovo are going to wipe out Apple market and margins very quickly.
    Apple is a declining company...

aow, there is nothing bad on shorting a stock.

I believe shorts help to maintain the balance in the market, but frankly speaking, the language and evidences that this guy uses are ethically disputable... When I hear those kind of stories I always wonder how some people are able to step on their own dignity, principles and values just for the sake to make money...

    bad karma... bad karma...
