  • Should You Take A Shot With First Street Finance? [View article]
Yes, some of us look for a short term trade. More numerous are the commenters who voiced concern that the author misstated the name of the corporation --even inn the title--and thought that fact might call into question the reliance one could place on the rest of the article.

  • Prospect Capital Has Become Absurdly Cheap [View article]
Let's see---Taxable income figured to one cent per share above the declared dividend. Net asset value sagged again. The 3% bounce in PSEC stock price after hours corresponds to locking in the 1% monthly dividend which was declared for the next three months. That's all I see in that move. I see not much wiggle room for any negative surprise moving forward.

  • Prospect Capital: Continued NAV Declines? [View article]
If the quarterly report this afternoon is as bad as I expect it may be, we can't say that BDCBuzz and Jonathan Bock didn't try to call attention to the massive deficiencies of Prospect management and board of directors. In my opinion, the board has failed to adequately represent their bosses. The shareholders of PSEC should vote all of them out. Unfortunately, the institutions are very careful to smile nicely at the sweet people sitting as directors, and without some heavy defections among the institutions the board is firmly entrenched.

It is shocking to have read so many comments posted user past months to Seeking Alpha articles saying that it really does not matter if book value drops, or if quarterly reports are starting to shake the foundation -- because what really matters is the far above average dividends that they have been receiving. Oh, the price of the shares is down again? But the dividend yield is higher on the lower stock price so that is just ducky, some have said.

I 22,000 PSEC the last quarter of 2014 and have just started buying ARCC with those funds.

  • Millions Of Millennials And Retirees Can't Answer 3 Basic Financial Questions: How About You? [View article]
I have the answer as to why intuitive mathematical abilities are diminishing among U. S. students. Students are led to believe that if an important graphic such as are embedded in many SA articles with a tag advising us to "Click to enlarge" actually result in the graphic display being reduced rather than enlarged, their mind is altered to accept the opposite of what intuition and common sense would dictate.

@Aaron Funding. You present a list of potentially great investments. Any time you decide to organize as a mutual fund holding those issues, count me in! I concur with your investment philosophy.

  • Apple: The Bull Comes Back [View article]
This morning I panicked and sold. Sold 5 calls on Apple , June 19's with $135 strike @$4.60. That represents calls on the short term one- third of my Apple stake. Don't get me wrong. I hope the stock gets called. I expect I will close the calls out before they can be called. Maybe its wishful thinking.

I also hope for about a dime or preferably less increase in the quarterly dividend. I would like a small extra dividend. I hope there was no or very little share buyback
this past quarter, and none next quarter. I hope Tim Cook builds a billion dollar plant in Australia.

That's my wish list! A few minutes to blast off! Good Luck!

Now, my question is, will Verizon give me a right of recision from the eighteen months remaining on my lousy two year contract and allow me to sign up for this new much preferable offering, or will they alienate me forever.

  • A Single Mother's Income - Dividend Growth Investing [View article]
I'll add my two cents worth to the lots of chatter about writing call options. I have written calls since , oh, I think mid-1960's. Hundreds of 'em. Its a two way street and brokers love to write them because they are often good for two commissions.

The problem is that it is hard to watch the underlying stock climb and know that you are not participating because someone else holds your shares. Sure, you can buy the call back, at a loss. Then you may get caught in a pull back in the stock!

Probably best to calculate the most attractive annualized percentage gain that you will realize on any strike and series of call and then write the call based on that calculation, with the intention of holding that call until it expires or is exercised. Don't let yourself get in the mode of trading the call. If the write made sense when you wrote it, just stick with it.

This is the first time I have heard of an apology from YouTube!! Hmmm...I wonder if Lejoy John is a millennial?

As to Tim Cook, I feel that he is brilliant enough to think ahead like a millennial.

  • Prospect Capital: Dividend Coverage Stress Test [View article]
Gotta say, Jon Brock and Chris Knowland are my heroes among financial analysts! I wonder if Brock will participate in the next PSEC analyst conference. It would not surprise me if Barry was on the phone with Wells Fargo right after that teleconference.

I will mail a letter to each individual independent member of the board of directors expressing the fact that I have lost confidence in our Chairman and President. Also, that the compensation package is an affront to individual shareholders.

Scott, I admit that deciphering financial reports is not my forte.
My late brother was a CPA, and he had to hold my hand as we tiptoed thru the financial tulips together. I very much respect the enormous amount of work you devote to analyzing this company. Thank You.

That's fine and dandy, so long as the parents don't saddle themselves with their kids' college debt. That can be a way to ruin the parents retirements. High time we all come to realize the rip off cooked into the high cost of college education in this country.
