  • Three Plays on Solar Strength This Summer [View article]
All the talk about future p/e's and piper jaffray's raising sol's earnings per share growth to $1.?? something next year. But they forgot to mention that SOL just diluted their stock by almost ten % and took out 325 million in notes that do pay interest. That is almost $3.00 a share, not to mention all the intrest and dilution that will occur when the notes are turned into stock. How soon will it be before they are taking more notes out to cover a few more years of earnings. And with all the companies ramping up their production, who is taking into account the glut of excess that will occur when they have all finished? Kind of reminds me of the build up in the spread of fiber optics, with analysts touting all the companies building up and then it all came crashing down. I hope those that are holding, dump there stocks before the prices come crashing down like all the telco's that went bankrupt because of the massive build up.
Hydrogen fuel cells seems more like a viable answer to alternative energy than solar. If I beleive correctly, a lot of these solar systems need batteries for back up power when the sun dosen't shine. These batteries need to be replaced every so many years. Where do all the old ones go? And how much extra does it cost? Plus, in five years, what new technology will make solar systems of today obsolete? Hopefully, these companies will be able to use their production lines to manufacture those new technologies so they don't incur greater costs to re tool and have to borrow even more money.

  • The 'Problem' With Solar Companies is Not Really a Problem [View article]
I feel that solar may be a way to go in the future as far as energy is concerned, but these companies are just like the dot coms of the 90's. Every where that you look, you see that the amount of shares out for JA solar is 150 mil. But they had that amount out since last October. In January they split 3 - 1 so they now have over 450 Mil. shares outstanding, not to mention the 300 and some Mil. they just took out in notes which would be the same as 3 Mil. shares, but they pay interest at least. The COO just resigned, If I had over 40 Mil. shares of the company, I would resign too. These shares are also traded on the London exchage, are those shares included in the amount? What about China? Are there sdhares registered there too? How much is a company worth that does not give all the information needed? think about it before you invest.

Back in October of 2007, JA solar had 150 Mil. shares outstanding. Since then, they have split 3 - 1, borrowed 300 and some million and took another 13 million shares out to lend to a certain company to short, but are not considering it in the amount of shares out. When will they start showing and calculating their earnings per share on the correct amount of shares?

  • Solar Power Plays Look to Grow with Clean Energy Act, Spanish Subsidies [View article]
Hello, can anyone help? I see that JASO(JA Solar) has a market cap of 3.some Billion. However, they just did a stock split of 3/1. I do not beleive they have accounted for this yet in their market cap. Should it not be 9.some billion. I have looked for updated information, but cannot seem to find it anywhere. And as far as ADR's(american depository shares)-I would assume these companies also have stocks trading in their own country. How can we find out how much, and if they do- does this not make these ADR stocks extremely oversubscribed and expensive?
