  • How the Treasury Bubble Will Burst and Why [View article]
The bond market is just another ponzi scheme. They have never paid off a single bond without selling another bond to pay off the person collecting. All ponzi schemes collapse once there is no one new to enter the market. With the media screaming for everyone to "flock to the safety of bonds" there will be no more new participants to enter, at which point, they must default on those bonds or "gasp" actually pay them. If they pay them, they can't do it through raising taxes. They'll print the money, make good on their so called promise, and we'll end up with a bunch of worthless money.

  • Gold/Silver Ratio Is High, But It's Been Higher [View article]
Why not just go long silver and sell gold. I wouldn't be shorting gold right now.

Byron, I see plenty of "sell your gold commercials". The only buy gold commercials I see are gimmicks where they charge you double the price of the metal.

  • Gold and Silver Are Not Proven Inflation Hedges [View article]
So let me get this straight, you post a graph of gold and silver over 100 years hovering around the rate of inflation and it's not a hedge how? Seems to me that gold/silver have performed well over the past 100 years protecting you from inflation.

  • How to Explain Fiat Currency to Silverbugs [View article]
    xsuddensam,

but your doctor now has all these fancy high tech tests to confirm that you have a sinus infection. Sure, they charge you $1000 bucks to find it out, but you gotta be sure right? Heh, you can diagnose a sinus infection by pressing on someone's sinuses with your finger, yet people think they need a fancy machine to show them. Furthermore, once they do, they have all kinds of drugs to treat them. Meanwhile, the Hindu's developed a method god knows how long ago to deal with them. You pour salt water through your nasal cavity. All of this should cost around 2 bucks at most.

The standard of living in this country if awful compared to decades ago. A husband and wife both have to work full time to make ends meat. We watch our retirement accounts go up in flames with inflation and a crazy stock market. Oh yeah, and that whole housing bubble thing. Way to make it impossible to buy a house. Good job Greenspan. How well did Rome do when they removed all the silver from their coins? Right now, we are in the process of removing the Zinc from our pennies. With the track we are on, we'll be calling our pre-1982 pennies copper dollars, because they'll have a dollar in melt value.

CLH, I'm not even 28 yet. So I could care less who paid what for Silver in 1980.

sure, I can live with another 90% in another 85 years. That's about 1% a year. Oh wait, I remember gas and food costing less than half of what it does today in the late 90s. We better slow it down. We shaved off near 50% in the past 10 years. We'll hit your mark 60 years early.

  • Sorry, There Is No Silver Conspiracy [View article]
the price of GLD and SLV have serious disconnects from the actual price of the physical metals. When Silver went down under 13, you couldn't find a single person willing to sell at that price other than Apmex. Wouldn't you know, they were out of silver within half a day. They are still out.

  • Is the Price of Gold Artificially Depressed? [View article]
the dollar is strengthening? On what basis? 2% interest rates? Is the trade deficit getting smaller? Is the Federal Government balancing their budget? Is the money supply contracting? The trade deficit is still growing. The Bush administration announced a record amount of spending. Oh yeah, and all those federal bailouts to JPM, BSC, Fannie and Freddie? I can't see a single thing in play that doesn't point towards gold being a good play.
