Oil Shale, Oil Sands... I see pollution and extreme energy to get a barrel of oil from those locations. To be profitable I suspect that oil will have to sell for at least $200 a barrel. And the cleanup from the process will cost at least $100 a barrel.
Oil Sand and Oil Shale just ain't gonna happen in my (limited) view.

I heard in the past that the Chinese do not have the 'empties' shipped back, as it's not cost effective, but just create new containers over there. So these things should be cheap to buy, vs just throwing them away to the scrap yard for minimum cost. Anyway... if they can get them cheap enough, use a cutting torch to pop in a few windows, slap on some insulation and paint.. Hummm , might just work.
