"...$699 by the end of the forecast period" I can see that or even less. Current MacBooks should be there by 2030. Or were you forecasting to 2020, 2050?
Title and content mismatch... a limited data plan does NOT equate to a "crippled" iPhone. Many folks have wifi much of the time for which a limited mobile carrier (at&t) data plan provides FULL functionality at lower cost. Use wifi when available, and when not, mobile carrier to access the internet.
Apple’s iPhone App Refund Policies Unfair to Developers [View article]
Apple CAN (but should not) do what they want having a monopoly on the distribution of iPhone apps. A better albeit more complicated solution... no developer penalty for small # or % returns. But high return rate = crappy app then developer penalty applied (100% refund).
Apple should be accommodating developers and are leaving themselves open to litigation and eventually govt. intervention if they continue esp. in (separate issue) sanctioning copy-cat apps (see... arstechnica.com/apple/...). Apple's early success was due to independent software developers and they still provide Apple a competitive advantage esp. in the case of the iPhone, as others attempt to mimic all things Apple.

Great piece, agree 100%... read recently of wireless carrier "innovation". What a joke. First carrier to offer limited or pay-as-you-go data plan will see marked gains esp. if they support the best of breed smartphone (iPhone, maybe Palm Pre).
Will Apple Increase iPhone Value with Rumored Verizon Deal? [View article]
Similar to prior comment [Ted], the first carrier to offer a reduced data plan (pay-as-you-go or restricted plan) will win customers for themselves and their smartphone vendors. Apple should have the bargaining power to pressure AT&T or other carrier (Verizon?) into more customer-friendly plans (ie, more choices).

Most producers reward high volume distributors... record labels are misguided in penalizing Apple. At a minimum, Apple has shown the way to a post LP-cassette-CD world of electronic distribution. These punitive actions plus social networking plus listen-and-click2buy (eg, Starbucks) will lead artists to seek more direct distribution be it Apple, Amazon, or their own e-commerce enabled website. The lack of innovation and insight by record labels will spell their demise.
Author is clueless as others have sufficiently noted. Seeking Alpha -- PLEASE be more discerning in what you publish! An admitted Apple fan -- for good reason of course :-) I'm always looking for good, valid critiques... but none, zero, nada here.
Apple Can Disable iPhone Apps, but Should They? [View article]
Transparency is the key... Apple should clearly state their "policing" policy. It's reasonable and smart business to block/remove apps that are malicious degrading the device (iPhone) and/or service.
But does this control/intervention extend to apps Apple deems in poor taste? It should NOT. A warning/rating similar to movies about violence, language, sexual content, etc. would suffice giving customers the choice is the Apple way.
"Apple apparently was waiting to see if Psystar was legit..." and likely wanting to avoid drawing attention to them = free advertising. Any independent assessment if they're legit? So much internet reporting read like press releases, some investigative reporting would be welcomed and refreshing!
In U.S. we're now paying $4/gal. for gas, Europe purportedly nearly $8. Same for telecom cost? Anybody know? ...b/c without tethering (using phone for laptop internet connect) I also feel "taken" at these increasing prices. BTW it's not a razor 'n blades model b/c the razor costs hundreds of dollars... plus $36 at&t activation fee. Great technology, but data service pricing likely to keep me away for my modest needs.

Some valid points but author concludes, "touch screens... are certainly not functional". I rarely trust the herd mentality, but there's good reason vendors are rushing iPhone knock-offs to market. Touch screens are the ONLY reasonable solution for packing ever-increasing functions into a handheld device. Chicklet keyboards are for kids and midgets (sorry, vertically challenged).
A Look at Apple's Q2 EPS Estimate Trend [View article]
Suggest giving the data the "so what" test... does the data actually show anything, including NO trend/correlation which is what I deduce from these tables.AAPL seems volatile around earnings reports and other announcements (MacWorld product intros) but wonder if a timeframe of 3 weeks or 2 months would show a trend? Tho other factors intervene in a longer view (changing economy, housing crisis, etc.) a pattern may still emerge. Look forward to more.
