    • The Agriculture Boom Goes Bust [view article]
Why the sudden change of opinion on POT and even the sector just before earnings announcements? Hedging your bets and comments I think? You aound like Citibank......Potash prices have jumped to more than cover input cost increases, and Phosphate prices have held and moved up slightly from record highs now over 1200/ton. Earnings drive stock price, and the fertilizer run still has legs. Jul 22 09:13 PM
    • UBS Raises PotashCorp and Agrium's Price Targets - Again [view article]
Potash will sell for $1000, and several very large contracts sold ~$700 months ago. The demand/supply balance is in favor of POT, MOS, CF, and AGU, and this will not change much for at least 2-3 years due to barriers to entry or expansion. Earnings announcements in the next two weeks will support the UBS upgrades, which are still conservative. Jul 20 09:22 AM
    • The Global Agricultural Boom: No Bubbles Here [view article]
How childish to ask if people started eating more lately? World population is increasing, and the quality of diet expecially in China is moving up which increases demand for fertilizer, along with ethanol/corn. Add to this that Mosaic removed 20% of their production capability in phosphates just before the boom to shift the balance of supply and demand even further. Add that this is an incredibly capital intensive business, and that you can only mine minerals where they exist naturally, there are huge barriers to entry--and there is a major new production facility under construction in Saudi Arabia keeping others from jumping in (the Saudi project is scheduled for 2012 at the earliest--probably later). There is no bubble--quite the opposite--Mosaic, Potash Corp, and CF have dramatic increases in earnings to report in the next few quarters, and are still undervalued. Apr 18 06:44 PM
