    A simple,but concise explanation,even a dummy could understand.

The powers in DC know how it works...they are just waiting for hyper-inflation to level the playing they think..

  • Gold and Economic Freedom: Reinterpreted for the 21st Century [View article]
Retail demand for gold jewelry is the worst ever seen.We operate a jewelry and pawn business in a small city of 25,000.We probably sell twice as much as the next biggest competitor,in a average year.

Yesterday, the day before Mother's Day,we had Zero sales...nothing,notta.... day long...

Sales are down 75% in 12 months. The only saving grace is scrap gold buys, which are up over 300% for the year.

I don't know how to interpret what the lack of retail demand has on gold prices, but I can assure you that high gold prices is killing demand.

A number of jewelers will be closing their doors this year..

  • Mark-to-Market: The Bogeyman of the 1930s Is Back [View article]
Mr. Sunshine...I usually agree with you,but not this time.

No amount of mark-to-magic accounting can save many of these banks with home values down 50% in some parts of the country.Add to that HELOCs and credit card losses, with profitable lines of business shrinking at the banks...and lending down.

This just creates zombie banks for years to come, helped along by the Government.

David has been very right for a long time....the last 3 months were treacherous for anyone but the pro traders.I have 35yrs experience, including 10yrs as a broker, and I got stopped out and whipsawed so many times,I finally went to the sidelines to wait it out.It was maddening to see good trades go by,but better opportunities will come...

This was not the case in the 83 maybe it truly is different this time..

  • Has Gold Been Manipulated? [View article]
Gold prices have held pretty well for awhile now...I don't see any more manipulation here than any other market....just look at what JPM and GS are doing in the stock market.

With so much gubmint money sloshing around in the system, and much more coming, inflation will be the driver that gold needs...and no amount of manipulation will be able to stop the upward move...
