The Grapes of Wrath used to be a favorite of mine when I was younger. Chapter 15 always made me tear up... the humility of travelers on their long road West... the goodness of Mae, even though she has to be shamed into it... the giving of the bread, the candy.... people helping people during difficult economic times. The truckers and their generous tip- witnessing the good and paying their respect. The portly wealthy, worried and never quite satisfied...

It's good to see well written pieces on here from time to time

And why not bet on America- one has to believe that there is goodness out there amongst so much fraud, deception and unregulated risk-taking... the Steinbeck moment was well taken

I don't see why both RIMM and AAPL can't exist and prosper as the top two vendors in the smartphone market. Clearly the pie is divided between the two- why is there so much ridiculous posturing amongst shareholders of one or the other- like two toddlers in a sandbox... both companies will do extremely well in the long term.

Citigroup's Flush

I have to agree with the commenters above- Citigroup loses 20 billion dollars this year, one of many financials to do so, they get bailed out- they lose only x billion more, their stock is up 1 + today... I work as a physician. If I took such gambles in my profession, I would be accused of not providing standard of care- I would be sued, penalized, probably lose my license- why aren't there penalties for these firms?? This company makes me sick to my stomach. This is all a game, a sham, and the little investors are falling for it again and again.
