Profiting from the Pickens Plan: FAN, Clean Fuels, Fuel Systems [View article]
This is the only short term answer available. I think that we should be buliding wind turbines at the rate, which we produced tanks in WWII. I just returned from Thailand and they are already retrofitting cars to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). In just a few years and during a political crisis they have build an infrastructure to support the fueling of CNG modified cars, truck, and buses. They have at least one CNG refiling station for each province. This would be like having a CNG refiling station in every county in Texas. I really don't understand why the US just sits and hopes oil will go to $ 8 a gallon.
This will work if the government provides the subsidies to retrofit the current vehicles and the price of Natural is maintained at a significantly lower cost than gasoline no matter what the old companies say, even if the government has to regulate it.
US and Foreign manufactures are already building new cars with the CNG option in Thailand. This would be a easy retool of assembly lines and would apply to car, trucks and buses.

I don't like gold as and investment but it looks like if things get worse. I think it might be wise to load up on GLD for a temporary hedge against collapse of the financial markets. Hold GLD only until the financial markets are truly restored. Not being rallied by people in the government who know better and surly have broken US Law.
Bank Stocks: Another Day Through The Looking Glass [View article]
Remember the only people on earth that would buy financial stocks at this time, would be the Plunge Protection Team (PPT). People need to write their US Representatives and US Senators and remind them that they are the elected officials, and we will have our revenge on them. We may not be able to get to Paulson and Bernake but if they continue to send good money after bad and rob our children and grandchildren the wealth earned by previous generations of Americans as well as our own.
The lack of honesty is a beacon to the would that American can't be trusted. Free markets? Who would believe that now.

You say we can't get from here to there without nuclear? I disagree! Until we can dispose of the waste already produced we should not create more. The negative will never succeed. We should be building wind turbines at the rate we produced tanks in WWII. If the government had an energy policy that would reduce our dependence on foreign energy suppliers that would be helpful.
We can do it but we have to have direction. The only one who seems to have a clue is T. Boone Pickens.
We need to go to wind power for electrical production and use the freed up natural gas to fuel our vehicles. I recently returned from Thailand and they have Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refiling stations in most provinces in their country. This is equivalent to Texas having a CNG refiling station is every county. They are converting all types of vehicles large trucks, small trucks, buses and private cars. I would guess that over 100,000 plus vehicles have been converted. They are also using E20 at all refilling stations. If third world country's can do it why can't we? We should be ashamed out ourselves and out country. If we don't want to become a looser on the world stage we must take strong action. We should have an Apollo project for energy.
And always remember what your mother told you, that can't never did anything.

Excellent post. On strength of the dollar issue. Forty years ago with the dollar being devalued, out products would be selling like hot cakes. The problem is now we have few products since we are a service economy ie. jobs at McDonald's. We need a change in our government policies and direction. We should have the Apollo Project for Energy to produce jobs and products to sell the world.
A question about the market today 16 July 2008. Is it legal for the US Government buy stocks in financial company's? If not could someone explain why the financial stocks are up big today?
How Much Will Drilling in ANWR Affect Oil Prices? [View article]
Nice article the real answer is that we need less oil not more. We should be building windmills at the rate we produced tanks in WWII. If we don't we will return to third world status due to lack of energy to run our economy. Which now means keeping the lights on at McDonald's (service jobs). Since have moved our other jobs offshore? Alternative Energy would provide thousands of real jobs for American workers. Wake up America!!!
Drilling in ANWR: What's Not to Like? [View article]
Oil is dead and the sooner the better!
Drilling in ANWR is a ruse the oil to be produced would be less that 1 1/2 million barrels per day. This would not even fill the Alaskan pipeline to full capacity. We use 21 million barrels per day, the oil from ANWR would take at least 5 years to produce?
This is America's wake up call either, continue being dependent on countries and persons that would like us driven back to the status of a third world country. Or we can be a leader in new industrial revolution and that is producing clean renewable energy for the world. I and not a tree hugger, and don't believe even believe in global warming.
The reason I do not believe that it is in our national security interest to continue to depend on a resource that we as a country can't provide for ourselves. The truth is that we just like all countries need to be energy independent.
A lot of the oil information telling us that oil is the answer and that there is plenty more, looks very much like the campaign years ago that told us that cigarette's weren't bad for our health.
ANWR is a fake issue, smoke and mirrors, at most it would produce only 1 to 2 million gallons of oil per day. The USA currently uses 21 million gallons per day. The ANWR oil wouldn't be ready for 5 to 10 years. We need less oil not more we need to take this opportunity to do as Brazil did and become energy independent. Not through the use of oil but the the use of ethanol, natural gas and gasified coal.
Etrade now has better management and it appears they are now headed the right direction. I have both my investment, IRA and Bank accounts with them. They treat their customers well and that's half the battle. I like them and would considering buying their stock to keep lesser quality companies from buying them on the cheap and ruining them.
